| Moving files in Finder = Hell | 31 May 2006 23:32 GMT | 72 |
I'm moving lots of files around in Finder and finding it is a torture. Icon View wastes space so that cannot be considered. If I want cartoons I'll turn on the cartoon channel on TV. List View doesn't allow the full length of the name to be displayed even

| Ok HD replacement is simple in MacBook. What about MacBook Pro? | 31 May 2006 19:03 GMT | 7 |
I'm thinking about purchasing a new Macbook Pro, but I'm concerned about hard discs performance/battery consumption. 5400s are a bit slow and 7200s make the book a little battery-hungry. But I heard about this new integrated-memory-based hard disc by Samsung

| Final Death of my OS 8.6 (sigh) | 31 May 2006 13:30 GMT | 24 |
I admit it, I liked the old Apple OSs like 8.6 They were simple, no stinkin' permissions to worry about. Never had even one tiny bit of malware, in all the years that I surfed the Web.

| PDF file is .app | 31 May 2006 13:27 GMT | 6 |
I installed the trial version of iWork from the CD which came with Tiger. Everything works fine, and the manual is there as a PDF file. But I'm puzzled: The manual file is named something.app. However, doubleclicking opens it in Acrobat, so it's obviously a PDF. But it's

| G5 and Belkin battery backup ... trouble? | 31 May 2006 06:40 GMT | 4 |
I bought a Belkin 375VA battery backup unit to give me time to gracefully shut down the G5 the next time PG&E has one of their momentary power failures -- something that seems to happen at least once a month where I live.
