Moving files in Finder = Hell31 May 2006 23:32 GMT72
I'm moving lots of files around in Finder and finding it is a torture.
Icon View wastes space so that cannot be considered.  If I want cartoons
I'll turn on the cartoon channel on TV.
List View doesn't allow the full length of the name to be displayed even
Netscape 7.2 in OS X won't print31 May 2006 23:16 GMT7
I have a client that is has an issue with printing web pages and  email
from Netscape 7.2.  He has a G5 and is running 10.4.6.  The issue is
that when he tries to print, it looks like the print job goes to the
printer queue but does make it and it does not give an error.  When I
Ordered MacBook ... Where to get Windows XP?31 May 2006 23:06 GMT35
Well, after putting my hands on the new MacBook at the store the other
day, I ordered one to replace my iMac G4.  It should be here next week.
I can't wait!
It occurs to me, though, that I might want to run Windows on the thing
Automatic reboot after panic31 May 2006 22:36 GMT5
somehow my MacMini seems to panic roughly once a month. Since I use
it as a VCR I would like it to boot afterwards automatically without
intervention. Can this be set somehow?

Upgrading HDD31 May 2006 19:11 GMT1
I want to upgrade the HDD in my Imac G3 to a larger one. Right now
there is a 20 gig one in there, I am assuming that is is a 5400 rpm
drive. Can I swap it a 7200?? or would that run too hot for the Imac???
Ok HD replacement is simple in MacBook. What about MacBook Pro?31 May 2006 19:03 GMT7
I'm thinking about purchasing a new Macbook Pro, but I'm concerned
about hard discs performance/battery consumption. 5400s are a bit slow
and 7200s make the book a little battery-hungry.
But I heard about this new integrated-memory-based hard disc by Samsung
Bootcamp on a Macbook...31 May 2006 18:04 GMT12
Can anyone comment on their experience running XP on a Macbook (13")?
Smooth? Issues? Oddities?? Is 1GB RAM a must?
Call me crazy, but I was actually considering having two hard drives:
my primary Mac-only drive and then one with Boot Camp.  I'll only need
mac mini (intel) memory31 May 2006 16:17 GMT1
I have an intel duo core mini with 1 gig of memory. Can I replace one of
the 512 chips with a 1 gig chip now and switch the other one later?
Mac OS X font problems31 May 2006 16:05 GMT8
I am a new Mac OS X user. I have recently gotten an Intel based Mac
book laptop. Unfortunately, I am not able to even start using it
seriosly because I am having serious problems with fonts in web
browsers and e-mail readers. Specifically, I m looking to use Firefox

Final Death of my OS 8.6 (sigh)31 May 2006 13:30 GMT24
I admit it, I liked the old Apple OSs like 8.6
They were simple, no stinkin' permissions to worry about.
Never had even one tiny bit of malware, in all the years that I surfed
the Web.
PDF file is .app31 May 2006 13:27 GMT6
I installed the trial version of iWork from the CD which came with
Tiger. Everything works fine, and the manual is there as a PDF file.
But I'm puzzled: The manual file is named something.app. However,
doubleclicking opens it in Acrobat, so it's obviously a PDF. But it's
Concatenating MP3 files31 May 2006 10:21 GMT1
For a picture show with iPhoto 6, I need a long music file.
So i want to append together two or three MP3 files,

What's the tool to do that ?
G5 and Belkin battery backup ... trouble?31 May 2006 06:40 GMT4
I bought a Belkin 375VA battery backup unit to give me time to
gracefully shut down the G5 the next time PG&E has one of their
momentary power failures -- something that seems to happen at least once
a month where I live.
