Power Light Flickers - suddenly!02 Apr 2006 19:39 GMT1
I'm using a G4 with the widescreen flat screen monitor by  Apple.  A
couple of hours ago, the Power light (the one on the monitor that I use
to turn on the G4) started to clicker, and the screen illumination
seemed to drop a bit.

Recently for security concerns I changed an account from Admin to
standard. Now that account can't use DVDs or CDs. Experimentally I
changed that account back to Admin, and DVDs and CDs work again. What

Has anyone had success in getting an XP shared "HP PSC 1215" printer
working from a Mac?
To summarise: the printer is connected to an XP box and is shared on
the lan. Printing from other win boxes is good. The Mac is also on the
FCP and the Intel Macs02 Apr 2006 09:42 GMT1
Everyone in this newsgroup has probably read the story of the
gentleman who had a problem getting mail on his computer.  He called
Dell tech support, and after a long exchange, it finally came out that
the power was out in his area.  The frustrated tech told him to box up
Bluetooth failed after 10.3 -> 10.402 Apr 2006 08:46 GMT2
I have just upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4.3 on a PowerBook G4.  I had
some issues with a Keyspan USB server but their new drivers sorted that.
Otherwise all seemed to go well, however:
The Bluetooth icon is missing, and clicking on most of the menu bar

QuickTime with no sound on Windows machine and hangs02 Apr 2006 03:31 GMT2
For the past few months I have been unable to get QuickTime to work on
one of my Windows XP machines. A movie plays but there is no sound or
there may be a machine gun-type noise. Furthermore quicktime becomes
unresponsive for about 45 seconds after pausing it or after it gets to
Mac OSX sucks big time02 Apr 2006 02:59 GMT45

I have to say that OSX sucks big time. It is garbage, written by
nincompoops who do not understand how to write proper error messages.
Due to the dullards who decided it was a good idea to limit where paying

I am setting up a new iMac G5 (250 GB HD) and need some advice on

My current plan is to partition it into 3 partitions:
#1 and #2 will be relatively small--say, 20 GB each--and the third will
How to make OS 9.2.2 bootable ZIP?02 Apr 2006 02:37 GMT2
Would someone please let me know what are the essential items to copy to
a ZIP 100 disk to make it bootable with OS 9.2.2? I have a disk that
boots with 9.2.1, but now my G4/450's Startup Disk cp doesn't recognize
the ZIP as bootable.
Argh! Windows-only multimedia01 Apr 2006 23:37 GMT13
I just got my iBook G3 back from the shop for the sixth time in three
years, and now AppleCare is about to expire. So I'm starting to think
about a new computer somewhere down the line. I'd love to get a
