How to make Finder windows display file size permanently?11 Apr 2006 23:16 GMT6
How do I make Finder windows PERMANENTLY display file sizes?  After
restarting, I always have to re-set the Finder View options to 'Calculate
all sizes'.  I have already run an Automator workflow to make this a
permanent preference (it took over an hour to run), but it doesn't seem ...
10.4.6 has broken Windows Sharing11 Apr 2006 23:16 GMT2
Ever since I updated to 10.4.6, I can no longer connect to my Mac from
an ancient Win98 laptop.
Now, all I get is incorrect error messages stating "password was
incorrect," even though I repeatedly enter the exact (including
Energy saver preferences11 Apr 2006 22:41 GMT1
does anyone know a way to have more than one custom setup in the Energy
Saver System Preferences. I find myself revisiting it way too often. I
don't understand why they don't have named sets like they do with
Network preferences, for example. It gets annoying.
Homebrew Mac Gamer Project11 Apr 2006 22:17 GMT2
I am looking for an older Mac computer to use as the core of a home
entertainment center. My budget is very limited, but I am willing to
pay a fair price  (I'm really hoping for someone with a couple of
computers they are looking to get rid of who thinks this is a cool idea
iTunes store video format11 Apr 2006 21:37 GMT9
I'm thinking about downloading an episode or two of Battlestar Galactica
from the iTunes store but it doesn't say anywhere what the format is.
What is the format of these files? What would the approximate size of a
50 minute TV show be? Can they be burned to DVD (VIDEO_TS) and ...
Signatures In MacMail11 Apr 2006 20:38 GMT4
I am a newbie so be gentle. This is my first time on this group.
I have several hundred quotes I use for signatures in my Mac-Mail. (OS
10.3.9) Is there any way to get all of these out of the mail and into a
database so I can edit and search them?
It's all a question of trust...11 Apr 2006 19:07 GMT2
Recently I bought a new PC - I already have an iMac but there were
certain apps I needed that were PC only. I bought WinXP unloaded,
meaning I had to do the load myself. I had to find the installation ID
after installing and phone this through to microsoft (the PC is not
Can Not Figure out the Finder11 Apr 2006 15:19 GMT5
I had gotten rather careless with saving files, since it was so easy to
locate them with the Fnder. However, now that I    am running OSX and
Tiger, on a new computer, I find the finder to be quirky and the help
instructions useless.

Bluetooth Gone11 Apr 2006 14:29 GMT5
On my 1.5GHz, 17" G4 PowerBook, the bluetooth thingie at the top right
of the thing has a wavey line through it and it says "Bluetooth Not
Available" when I click on it.
I think I recall that I used to have a Bluetooth "System Preferences"

iBook G4 Owners: Is it time to cut bait?11 Apr 2006 04:24 GMT12
I'm a first time poster, devoted mac user, currently using an iBook G4
12", 1.33ghz.
Appleinsider.com is reporting that the "Intel iBook" (or whatever Apple
will call its new entry-level notebook), will start shipping in June.
Clock question11 Apr 2006 04:19 GMT9
I recently had the following exchange in another group about the
switchover to Daylight Savings Time. Is there really a "Mac thing"
issue here?
