I'm specifically trying to find a local (rather than web-based)
interface to the DUATS aviation weather system for flight
planning.  If anyone has any information on this I would
appreciate it.

Remember the Classic OS "After Dark" screen saver called GraphStat by
Berkeley Systems that generated random graphs for OS 8.6 and above?
Does anyone know if there is anything like that for OSX? If so, where might
I find it?

This is my first experience with this new technology and would be grateful
if somoene could explain what the folloing is about.
I've got an iPod Video 30 g  a momnth ago, I've downloaded some audio

Trying to find the easiest way to transfer some old VHS video tapes to
DVD. If one bought a DVD-R/VHS dual player/recorder, then I could pop
the video in and make a DVD-R. Then take the DVD-R and use iMovie to add
menus, edit tracks, etc. Is this assumption correct?

I have a new iBook running Tiger. When I started up the computer today,
the hard drive icon appeared halfway down the screen and 2-3" from the
right. I moved it to the top right, turned the computer off and
restarted, but it stayed the same. How can I get the hard drive icon to

Hi, I have a flat-panel iMac G4. I just bought a memory card from
Crucial and an Airport (NOT Extreme) from ebay. How do I install them?
The instructions at apple.com don't have any pictures, and I've never
opened up a computer in my life. I'm afraid I'll do something wrong.

Wife wants to migrate from Dell desk top to MacBook.
She wants to write, watch DVD movies, send & receive e-mail.

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who's compared the performance of
Linux (specifically YDL) and Mac OS X (the more current version, the
better). I want to install each of these systems and check 'em out, and
I'd like any useful information and interesting observations folks ...

When I power up my iMac (Tiger) I get a chiming sound as it boots.
Is it possible to mute that sound?

I have a 10 MBit Ethernet LAN. Connected to it is a Belkin wireless AP.
The Belkin AP and all the other hosts on the LAN connect to a 10 MB
(only) hub. My daughter brought her Pismo (with OS X 10.4) home for the
weekend, and her network speeds were terrible.

Is it possible to downgrade from 10.4.6 using earlier upgrades?  
No, I don't have a recent backup to restore from.

I just figured out how to cut .mp3's in itunes. Now I would like to
rejoin them. Is there a way to do this in itunes? If not, is there any
freeware that can do this.
