I've been setting up a new Quad core G5 and ran into some trouble. Currently, I can see the two ethernet ports with ifconfig, but they are not showing up in the System Preferences -> Network -> Network Status. I tried booting into safe mode, but still all I see is the AirPort.

I'm a complete newbie to OSX (Tiger). I'm a little confused on the behaviour of the Cmd-Tab key combination. Cmd-Tab will display applications minimized to the Dock, but selecting such an application does not restore it (nothing seems to happen at all.)
