Driver on Tiger 10.406 Mar 2006 23:06 GMT2
We are developing a driver on Mac OS 10.4 which is a 64-bit OS. Now,
PowerPC G4 is a 32-bit machine and G5 a 64-bit machine.
Tiger can be installed on both.
Tiger claims native support for both 32-bit and 64-bit applications.

Most of my apps are still for old Mac OS and my machine is very slow,

10.2.2 loaded on a slave drive. I downloaded the Mac OS X 10.1-10.3.8
upgrades, but a little leary of the install. Will it muck about with my ...

Why does Safari use so much processor power?06 Mar 2006 20:25 GMT2
I have a G4 20" iMac 1.25 GHz running 10.4.5, and I use MenuMeters to keep
an eye on my processor usage.  Sometimes it is at 100% when I'm browsing
certain webpages (for example http://members.aol.com/bowermanb/101.html),
and when I open Activity Monitor it shows that Safari is the ...

Powerboog G4 12" hangs on boot06 Mar 2006 15:48 GMT2

Help please - folder icon on boot-up06 Mar 2006 14:48 GMT1
I'm trying to help someone with a Mac G4 running OS9.  His system froze and
after rebooting, it displays a folder icon, which alternates between a face
and a question-mark.
Any ideas?
iBook can't see AirPort base station06 Mar 2006 11:54 GMT7
My wife's iBook has suddenly stopped being able to see our AirPort base
station (older, "UFO"-style).  My Compaq laptop running Linux (Fedora
Core 4) can use the wireless network with no problem.  I've tried
reseating the AirPort card, but that doesn't help.
Recommendation for a back-up Mac06 Mar 2006 00:02 GMT1
I need a back up Mac for my home (2 humans 4 cats).  I am currently
using a G5 (love it).  I have two, very old MACs that I use for spares:
an old G3 and a 7600 power PC.  I am looking for an inexpensive G4 for a
back-up.
External screen05 Mar 2006 19:21 GMT6
... I just received a display and attached it to my PowerBook G4. I can
use it and everything works fine. But I don't manage to display
slideshows on it. Neither selecting a few images and then "Slideshow"
does work, nor the fullscreen display in Preview. Both show the images
