G5 imac calibration issue17 Mar 2006 10:32 GMT2
I have just purchased a G5 imac and overall I am very pleased with it,
however I have one problem. I use the G5 when working at home, and when
I open a photshop file created on it at work (on a G4) the images are
always very very dark. Is this purely due to the brightness of the G5
Transferring large files to a friend17 Mar 2006 10:29 GMT9
I sometimes want to share large files (quicktime home-videos, a bunch
of photos etc.) and it's impractical to send them as email
attachements.
Most free websites only give you a few Mbytes, so what else is there?
readdir() acts funny17 Mar 2006 10:26 GMT4
I wrote a simple disk scanner. It is supposed to replace `find` since one
can't force `find` to skip directories with given names. It is required, as
there are humongous directories with backup files and going through them
takes ages (they are on NFS volumes, which also must be ...
Printing black & white problem17 Mar 2006 06:43 GMT1
I'm having problems printing a black & white photo on a Canon i965. When I
select plain paper it prints b&w ok, if I select Glossy Photo Paper the
print has a mauve tint to it, no matter what program I print from. The b&w
photo was scanned as greyscale 16 bit.
iMac G3 with 10.3 installed - wierd cursor problem17 Mar 2006 05:23 GMT2
I recently bought an iMac G3 400. I installed a bigger (80 gig) hard drive
and installed OSX 10.3 on it. It all works very nicely, except for one
thing. Very often when I move the mouse it leaves a pixelated trail on
certain parts of the screen. It seems to be worst when I try to ...

Apple x11 question17 Mar 2006 02:59 GMT6
I tried installing this onto my Mac but it says I can't because I have
newer software on my HD.  I'm trying to run Gimp but it won't allow me
to do so with out Apple x11.  Is there anything I can do or do I have
to wait for a more up to date version of Gimp to come out?
Adobe CS2 Issue17 Mar 2006 01:06 GMT2
For the sake of not having to retype everything, please refer to this
post.  I'd greatly appreciate it.  Basically Adobe CS2 won't run on my
mac except logged in under safe mode as the "super user".  All other
roads lead to frustration.  The link gives more info.  Thanks
iChat question16 Mar 2006 23:56 GMT10
... I configured iChat for Jabber with Google. It works fine. :-)
I put it in the Dock and in System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items. I
checked the "Hide" checkbox there but when I log back in, the iChat
window always pops up. Can I somehow make iChat not pop up at login
Changing user profile.16 Mar 2006 23:33 GMT2
I have just switched to a Mac.  For some reason when people recieve an
email from me, instead of originally saying From: Jo Blogs, it now says
From: Jo Blogs User.
How do I change this back to Joe Blogs.

to offer support for Windows Vista. At the Intel Developer Forum in San
Francisco, Apple's senior software architect Cameron Esfahani explained
eject button at start up16 Mar 2006 21:21 GMT6
I just started my PowerBook G4 (10.3.9) and held the CD eject button
down - silly me, I thought this would eject the CD which was in the
slot.  It didn''t.  Instead I heard a long tone, the "sleep" lamp
flashed several times, and then the machine started up - apparently as
