I've got an oldie but a goodie (IMO): a G3 450MHz rev2 Mac with 10.4 on
it and a Rage 128 video card.  It was working fine until a couple of
weeks ago when we had to unplug it and move it from the room to
wallpaper.  We moved it back into the room and hooked it up, powered it

G4, but the only snag is he cant remeber the password to login. i have
read that if i hold down the C key when booting with the install disk i
should be able to reset the password. But when holding down the C key ...

I am trying to run syndicate for Mac under basilisk 2 for windows.
Does anyone know whether this is possible or not?
Also, does anyone know the spec that the game needed - might help me
get the emulator to run it!

I've somehow managed to corrupt some data on my machine (Mac G4 733MH OS
10.4.5 896 MB).  My boot drive is a 160 GB external and the internal is

The other day I found an iMac on the tip which I brought home. It was
complete with mouse and keyboard. When I started it up, it seem to be
working, but the user accounts are all password protected.

I am looking for the most effective (and free) way to compress files so I
can backup folders on CD.  I tried using the Mac OS 10.4.5 Create Archive
function under the Finder's File menu, but it only shrunk 1,100 MB of files
down to 1,020 MB -- not very impressive.  Is there a better ...

I've tried twice to DL Windows Media Player for Mac. It downloads with
the suffix ".stx" When I try to open it, I'm told an application can't
be found to open it with. If someone can help with this, I'd appreciate
it.

Anyone know of a way to have Apple's Mail application in OS 10.3.9 send
out of office messages, without having to leave Mail running?
Don't know if that's possible, as it sounds like a server issue at that

I finally got the DVD drive I'd been needing, so I did an OS X install
on my B&W (it has been running OS 9 for a long time, perfectly stable).
Everything seemed to work OK with OS X, but couldn't see my SCSI drives
(which had been working just fine under OS 9) -- only the ATA ...

Is there something that will put a folder of apps in the dock;
