Says it all really. without classic so many things schools rely on are
gone. what's going to happen when schools come back in session and find
their classic is gone? And then they can't do what they needed to? It'll
hide URL when printing in Safari03 Feb 2006 01:01 GMT1
I have Safari 2.0.3 and I would like to print webpages without printing
the URL at the bottom.  Is this possible?
Thank you in advance,
Seth.

apt-get, gcc, and X1102 Feb 2006 21:56 GMT8
I have X11.app running fine on my 10.4.4 iMac. I am trying to install a
package via apt-get and it insists it needs to install a few packages
first, among them X11 and gcc (I also have gcc 4.0 already present, but
apt-get can't find it). Does anyone know if I am concerned that ...
multiple web browsers crashing--what's up?02 Feb 2006 21:28 GMT8
I'm having more and more problems with web browsers crashing: Safari, IE
and Firefox all are crashing very frequently, usually on mainstream
sites like drudgereport, huffingtonpost, latimes, and cbs marketwatch.
I'm suspicious that there's some connection between the crashes and ...

Anybody using QT 7.0 on a 1.25 GHz 15" Powerbook?02 Feb 2006 19:44 GMT1
My problem is the following: the new Pages 2.0 (or perhaps Keynote),
which I would like to install, requires Quicktime 7.0.
I am running OS X 10.3.9 (never had the money to upgrade to 10.4, maybe
soon I will upgrade straight to 10.5...) on a PB 15" 1.25 GHz, with 1

Ok.  Time for a new thread.
Question 1:
Now I need advice on where to purchase the top-o-line Inet iMac.  I'm
willing to throw some serious money at this and get an Intel iMac fully
Eightball symbol on sent mail in OS X? (Tiger)02 Feb 2006 18:39 GMT23
Maybe I installed it wrong, but sometimes when I send out an email, a
black eightball symbol shows up on my copy of the sent mail.  I thought
it might be a symbol that the mail didn't go through, but I phoned 2
people, who said they  both got the emails.
Assigning a special character to a keyboard shortcut02 Feb 2006 17:45 GMT2
I searched everywhere on my Apple keyboard yesterday for the hash key, and
then finally tracked it down on the character palette.  Even that took some
deep searching!  I use it a lot in web pages, and for the moment have just
copied it and left it as a reusable code snippet in my ...
Intel "speedup" IS mostly RDF02 Feb 2006 17:34 GMT40
How fast is the Intel Core Duo compared to a G5? Without the RDF, here
are some numbers of the best head-to-head comparison available, the dual
Core Intel iMac vs. the dual core 2.0 ghz G5 desktop. The conclusion is
simple: If Apple had put a dual core G5 in the iMac, it would ...
Battery replacement for 12" I-book02 Feb 2006 16:37 GMT1
Mine won't hold a charge anymore. 600 MHz Power PC G3 3 or 4 years old so
it's due.  I need to know what would be the best replacement and from where.
Thank you.
Degeneration of Al PowerBooks02 Feb 2006 15:35 GMT22
I've noticed a funny trend in all owners of PowerBooks. The areas where
people hold their hands begin to get worn out real quick. The aluminium
forms small mini-holes and loses its original texture. This is happening to
my PowerBook and I've had it for under a year. With my friend's ...
Irritating popping sound from speakers on 2 Macs...02 Feb 2006 12:18 GMT21
I think I read something about this months ago, but can't find the
information. Now it's driving me crazy, so perhaps someone can help.
I have 2 machines running 10.4.4. One's a Quicksilver that's been
running X since about 10.3.3, and I don't recall the problem before
