| Ignore Ownership ? | 06 Feb 2006 12:25 GMT | 3 |
This is a beginner question on the setting: "ignore ownership on this volume." Is it correct that a boot volume must NOT have Ignore Ownership selected? If so, for the non-expert why not?

| Mac readers for Visio and MS Project | 06 Feb 2006 11:46 GMT | 8 |
Has anyone seen a translators or know of reader apps that would allow you to view Visio or MS Project files? One of the downsides of being one of the few Macs in an almost all PC based company is not being able to view these kinds of files unless I call back and ask them to send ...

All my BBEdit text files have no icon; likewise my jpegs. If it was Classic I'd "rebuild desktop" but not sure what to do in these modern times.

| Hard drive upgrade G3 OS X | 05 Feb 2006 21:20 GMT | 4 |
I just put in a new Toshiba 60 G drive and I then tried to install OS X. I get to the question of "preferred device" for the installation and there are no devices in the window. Do I need to do something else first before I install the operating system?

| Cannot install X11 on Tiger | 05 Feb 2006 10:24 GMT | 3 |
I had a hard disc crash on my ibook G4. After replacing the hard disc for a new one (by my own) the CD-ROM drive crashed on my ibook G4. However, we managed it to install a Tiger system on my ibook by means of a second ibook (fire-wire).

| "Damage to Catalog File" | 05 Feb 2006 10:12 GMT | 5 |
Hiya. I'm running OS 9.2 when I use a music sequencer program (Cubasis from Steinberg) while "waiting" to move up to OS X 10.4 and leave 9's fussy aspects behind. I am happily using OS X 10.2 for everything else; no sweat there. Here's the issue that's really plaguing me.

Anyone know what's going on? For various reasons (mainly kids mucking around with my Mac) I had to do a clean system install of OS9.2.2 on my G3 beige tower and since then my USB/Firewire card PCI card (in a G3) has stopped working. I think it has do do with the relevant USB
