Upgrading disk with two systems06 Feb 2006 20:05 GMT3
I've got OS9 and OS 10.1 on the same hard disk. I'd like to restore
system software on 9 (which is getting wonky with age) and upgrade the
10 to .3 without obliterating either (i.e., losing my files, etc.) Is
this possible, and if so, how?

Dear members:
While in the process of making back-up copies of my applications' CDs and
DVDs I was surprised by a message from Retrospect stating that if I
proceeded to duplicate the disk with the option "Ignore Ownership" checked

Photoshop installs strangely06 Feb 2006 17:54 GMT8
I've tried installing Photoshop elements 2.0, but something strange
happens. Instead of the usual "Flower" icon I get a "broken document"
type icon for the Photoshop elements application, and when I
double-click on it an application called "MacHacha" starts up, trying
[darwin ports] missing library g2c06 Feb 2006 17:54 GMT3
i'd like to leverage some knowledge i have of the scipy [1] framework

macos 7.5.3 floppy images, not bin files06 Feb 2006 17:15 GMT6
Iv' got a powerbook laptop and had downloaded macos 7.5.3 bin files,
but realize that they are useless without a real macos system.
Where can I get 7.5.3 as an images to write it do floppies with dd or

world's silliest question r.e. iPhoto06 Feb 2006 17:01 GMT4
Dear mac addicts:
I am without any high-powered graphics manipulator
such as "Photoshop."
But certainly "iPhoto" - which comes standard with the Mac -
Can't print through APExpress06 Feb 2006 16:52 GMT1
I'm in an AZ condo with an HP all-in-one PSC1315, an G4 ibook and an
Airport Express connected to a cable modem, the printer and a stereo.
The Airport Express provides Internet access and sends iTunes to the
stereo. But it won't print over Airport.
Mac os for unix people?06 Feb 2006 16:49 GMT24
I'm an old school unix guy but have made the move to mac os. I REALLY
dislike the gui. I love the irix guy. Is there any way to strip down the
mac os 10.4 gui? I'd love to have it more minimalist and unix like. I
always work in the terminal.
Want functionality of Windows keyboard launch of desktop shortcut (alias)06 Feb 2006 15:47 GMT2
I use an html page of links as my "bookmarks"... on windows machines
I'll put a shortcut on the desktop to my html page, and then on the
shortcut properties assign a key to launch it.
What is the Mac equivalent? I use about 5 different machines daily, and
small boot disk06 Feb 2006 15:23 GMT2
I want to do something that may not be possible, but let me ask anyway.
My "hobby" system is a 233 MHz imac G3. I managed to put in a new hard
disk, 40GB, replacing the 4GB disk. I learned here that the boot
partition can't exceed 8GB, so I partitioned as 8GB for boot (which I
WMA9 to Apple Lossless conversion06 Feb 2006 14:33 GMT1
Good evening all,
Last week I received my new iMac computer which replaces my old Windows
desktop. I have some WMA9 (lossless) music files which I copied from the
Windows computer and want to convert them to Apple lossless format. I know
Mac compatible USB 802.11 wireless06 Feb 2006 13:03 GMT4
Can anyone recommend a USB WiFi adapter that works with MacOS 10.3.x?
Something like:
http://www.usbgear.com/USBG-2203.html (but doesn't have to be 802.11g;
slower is fine).
