| iPhoto compatibility with Argus? | 27 Feb 2006 22:27 GMT | 2 |
I want to buy my 80-yr old Dad an inexpensive digital camera to play with. He has a 400mHz iMac running 10.4 and iPhoto5. There's a nice Argus 3.2 mp on sale at Buy.com for $49 but Apple does not officially support Argus (or many others...Kodak for example). Will

| openssl: How to create and use X.509 certificates | 27 Feb 2006 21:46 GMT | 18 |
I used GPG in the past. Now with many mail clients supporting X.509, it seems that this could be a more convenient way of signing and encrypting messages. Apple Mac OS X has Mail as the mail client, and has OpenSSL 0.9.7i 14

| Unexpected Quitting - still a problem | 27 Feb 2006 19:03 GMT | 3 |
I posted earlier about problems my wife and kids have had recently with unexpected quitting with AIM, Mail, iChat (they just told me) upon opening these apps, and with Word when printing. This is on an iMac DV 400mz running 10.3.9.

| TPM+OSXonIntel=universal lockdown? | 27 Feb 2006 18:12 GMT | 7 |
I'm pretty sure someone must have thrashed this to death but there is a dearth of commentery on the matter of TPM use on Intel Macs on my news reader listings. So grain of salt please if this is redundant.

| VQF files... | 27 Feb 2006 18:07 GMT | 1 |
Hi all.. I'm having trouble handling VQF audio files on my Mac (OSX) - none of the software on it can play them, or decode them to wav files or mp3 (or even AAC) files so that Itunes can play them... I've tried looking for software, but I haven't had any luck at all - I

| Im having some trouble with my i-mac | 27 Feb 2006 14:39 GMT | 1 |
I have recently upgraded to OS X from V9.2 and the installation went well, but when I now try to download from the internet it doesn't let me. Is this due to the fact that I still have the old v9.2 on my system or is it because I have to re-install the software (which I havent

| can u drive USB peripherals with vintage Mac IIfx (NuBus slots only)? | 27 Feb 2006 03:24 GMT | 2 |
Is there any kind of adapter from ADB/LocalTalk to USB? (There is one the other way around, to drive old Apple printers with newer USB-equipped G3,4,5s.) Or NuBus to USB? Or SCSI to USB? Fixing a friend's old machine -- Mac IIfx used strictly for word

| Free way to compress files? | 27 Feb 2006 00:29 GMT | 6 |
I am looking for the most effective (and free) way to compress files so I can backup folders on CD. I tried using the Mac OS 10.4.5 Create Archive function under the Finder's File menu, but it only shrunk 1,100 MB of files down to 1,020 MB -- not very impressive. Is there a better ...
