mail & rules question...17 Feb 2006 13:45 GMT2
I have some "rules" in my Mac Mail program and they've worked great -
moving messages from the inbox to the various folders I've set up -
except now they're not -  It's been a while since I set them up so I
went to help to figure out the details.  Help says go to "Mail

Apple pop-up ad!17 Feb 2006 04:58 GMT32
Strictly speaking, it wasn't a pop-up ad, but I'm annoyed. I saw a
flashing animation of text on my imac G5 while it was in screensave
mode. It was about an upcoming Apple event.
I think Apple assumes that their customers are all brainwashed converts
Printer share question17 Feb 2006 04:15 GMT5

10.4.5 busted desktop pictures crossfade17 Feb 2006 00:47 GMT2
I have my desktop picture set to change every five minutes.
It has always done a very nice, smooth crossfade.  After upgrading
to 10.4.5, it now cuts between pictures.
Is there a way to make it revert to its previous behavior?
Remote Login Lockdown16 Feb 2006 22:16 GMT9
I'd like to enable Remote Login on my dad's computer but have it require
a SSH private/public key (and not work with a password). The reason is
simple: I need to administer my dad's computer from time to time and
would like to do so without driving out there, but I don't trust ...
Empty folders when decompressing16 Feb 2006 21:49 GMT3
Here's a strange problem:
1) I download an application (using the Mozilla web-browser) to my
desktop
2) Since I like to archive and organize my downloaded software I've
Changing icons16 Feb 2006 21:23 GMT5
I want to change some of my files' icons and know about the "Get info,
copy, Get info, paste" routine. The problem is that with some icons
something weird happens...
One of these problem icon sets is "LHA drives"
Clipboard won't erase16 Feb 2006 20:54 GMT2
I've recently did a cut and paste with a text file. Apparently it sends it
to the clipboard and the text is then pasted from that. The problem is that
when I try to cut and paste another text file, it won't let me because
there's already the first one still in the clipboard. It ...
Disappearing folder16 Feb 2006 20:27 GMT5
This is the first behavior in Mac OS X (Tiger - version 10.4.4) that I
can confidently say is a bug (and not have some developer use the
cliche - no it is a feature).  I created a directory in the list view,
but when I switch to icon view, the new directory/folder does not
APPLE patents Multi-input Touch-screen 16 Feb 2006 19:04 GMT2

Set Startup Volume16 Feb 2006 18:29 GMT2
The only ways I know to change the startup volume
are by opening System Preferences then choosing
Startup Disk, or by holding the Option key when
booting. Both methods are a bit slow. Are there
10.4 internal EtherNet Problem16 Feb 2006 17:25 GMT3
I am currently running a G4 with OS 10.3.9.  I upgraded to OS 10.4.
Everything seems to work, except I can no longer connect to the internet
(DSL), because I get the message that my built in ethernet is not
connected.  I have all the network setting exactly the same as before,
