optimizing graphics25 Jan 2006 05:10 GMT11
Please recommend a friendly application for my iMAC G5 for optimizing
.jpg picture files for web pages.  I am not referring to optimizing
performance of my machine.  Optimization to which I am referring is
the process of reducing an image's file size (amount of data) while

Please Help! Computer not recognizing hard drive24 Jan 2006 23:54 GMT2
I own an early g4 with os9 on it.  It has worked fine for several years
until today when it booted up and gave me the folder in the center that
flashes with a question mark.  I have several important files on the
hard drive.  Any advice would be helpful for restoring it with the
Info-Mac archive shutting down24 Jan 2006 22:52 GMT12
The venerable archive will disband in the near future
(exact date has not yet been set). Mirrors may or may
not remain available.
If you use Classic you may well use one of the
PowerBook G-324 Jan 2006 21:52 GMT5
Yes, and oldie, and don't know if it's a goodie. A friend just acquired
same, and is on dialup, so I offered to install and update his
system....but of the two .dmg files that looked promising for DVD
player, both installers said it wouldn't run on this machine. It's on
Categorizing with iPhoto24 Jan 2006 18:11 GMT4
How can I categorize photos with iPhoto?
Throughout the years I've spent lots of time categorizing my image files
within folders/sub-folders and I would like to keep things in the same
order as before. Here's an example of one of my file-structures:
Memory compatibility ->imac G3 to imac G424 Jan 2006 16:58 GMT2
This should be an easy question. I have a G3 imac 600 and am thinking
of upgrading to a G4 imac. When I bought the G3 I upgraded the RAM. Can
I place the 512MB SDRAM PC100-2225 in an imac G4. I'm guessing probably
not, but if anybody knows please advise.

Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer photos from an iPod
Photo 60GB back onto an iMac? My iMac's hard drive has died and now the
last 40 photos from my honeymoon are only available on my iPod! I've
seen several freeware/shareware downloads which enable transfer of song

Newbie to burning...maybe a tip?24 Jan 2006 11:27 GMT7
I got this weird error when the disk was verifying on my Mac Mini:
0x80020063
I did a little reading. I read that other programs running actively
might screw up the verification process and cause this error.
Using my xgrid to speed up rendering24 Jan 2006 08:46 GMT4
I have set up an xgrid of around 30GHz for internal office use. Is
there any way to harness this power to speed up rendering from 3D
Studio Max (PC)? It seams like a very parallelizable problem. I know
that apps have to be written for xgrid (and indeed for Macs), and that

I've installed the Virtual PC 7 software from a CD.
