I am relatively new to Macintosh. I'm experimenting with a Mac Classic.
I have downloaded several programs with the hqx extension on my
Windows PC, transferred them to the Classic, both by 3.5 floppy and by
CD, and Stuffit Expander on the Classic behaves nicely and decompesses
Installing gcc-3.3 from Xcode 2.205 Jan 2006 18:05 GMT4
I just downloaded Xcode 2.2 and don't want all of it.
All I want is the gcc-3.3 compiler so in the Packages folder
of Xcode, all I opened to install was gcc3.3.pkg
yet when I do, it doesn't appear to be enough.

Help: OS X 10.4.3 fails to recognize keyboard05 Jan 2006 14:28 GMT1
I recently swapped out an old keyboard and mouse. (See separate posting
for a question about mouse behavior.) I wanted to use a spare Keytronics
keyboard I had; I like the feel on that one. However, when I plugged it
in (I first connected it via a KVM switch, then tried the front ...

Hello.  I am thinking of getting Quicktime Pro 7 to use with my new
Ipod video and have a couple questions.  I already have a program that
gets my DVD onto my hard drive (DVD Shrink).  I was wondering if
Quicktime Pro 7 will be able to export the DVD files as an MPEG 4 video

Adding a mac to a PC network?05 Jan 2006 06:06 GMT4
I would like to add my fiancee's iMac (OS 9.2) to my local network,
which has 2 PCs (WinXP) on it.  All are connected through a Linksys router.
My main goal is so that she can access my shared printer from her
computer.  If we could do some rudimentary file sharing, that would be

Where are the man pages path set?  I do not get the man pages for some

/sw/share/man.  How do I add that to my manpages path?

How to run old DOS apps on a Mac?05 Jan 2006 04:22 GMT3
I have a Mac Mini and want to be able to run a few old MS-DOS apps
like Wordstar, Supercalc and Q&A.
They all run under standard DOS but I'd like to run them on the Mini.
How?  I've heard of Virtual PC but it seems to require running XP or
TV on my iMac05 Jan 2006 04:07 GMT4

Video TV and FM capability. I just received a Pyro A/V Link that allows
me to hook up my analog video camera or a VCR to my firewire and get
video into iMovie.
