If I have a USB or firewire drive connected to my mac at startup, but I don't want the Finder to mount it at startup, how would I go about it? If it can't be prevented, is there a way to have it unmounted? TIA

i have an ibook running mac os x 10.1.4. i have started to notice that the cursor is off, meaning that when i click on an icon, i need to click slightly below that actual icon because i can't click the icon when the cursor is over the icon.

I have an old Quadra 610 with a bunch of MacWrite Pro docs I need to recover- I can use a floppy but the Quadra will only successfully format as MS-DOS and all the file names get truncated. It would be easier to use the SCSI zip as the newer Mac I have has a zip in it.

I apologize in advance for my ignorance but I just a purchased a bunch of RW cds and am having some problems. When I put the CD in the mac i find that the disc only has 30MB of space - is it necessary to format the disc before writing to it to give it maximum

There are just some things that Apple left out. You can't change the color of the icon fonts? You can't change system fonts without third party software? Please tell me why osx doesn't directly support pcf font conversion when it's built on an opensource fbsd kernel and has X11 ...
