Hey all, I'm a Net. Admin for PC's and Unix but know almost nothing
about MAC.  I have a Mac at a elementry School that has a frozen mouse
on boot.  I checked the System Preferences and the only thing that
loads on start is a calendar, which is not causing the issue.  I

eMac restore CDs (Panther 10.3.3) work on an iBook?10 Jan 2006 22:35 GMT7
Actually have been sort of "out of it" on the Macintosh front since
MacOS 9, so I'm looking for a little help here.
A couple of years ago I bought my wife a Mac iBook 500mhz.  The one
that came right after the clam shells.  I upgraded to MacOS X 10.2.8

Up Front: I have Goggled this till I am dead. I have completely deleted the
application using Finders Find and deleting everything that said Nikon, or
referenced Nikon. I have re-installed many times.
System was recently upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4.3.

Suppose that I try to apply a label to a Mac file.
But the label refuses to "stick" staying at None.
Why would a file refuse to be adorned?  Modesty?
I've got this hard drive...10 Jan 2006 18:20 GMT4
Thanks for everyone's help with my last post about my seemingly dead
iMac DV edition. It was, in fact, dead - brain dead. So, alas I was
given (FREE) a new (to me) iMac G3, one of those greenish turquoise
colored ones the other day and had my hard drive from my old mac handed
iPod stylus entry10 Jan 2006 16:55 GMT1
I am thinking about purchasing an iPod.  Beyond the multimedia
capabilities, an intriguing aspect is the calendar and contact lists.
The only thing that seems to be missing is the ability to create appt's
and contacts on the device.  I don't want a PDA as that is overkill for
Help? Basic booting-from-DVD question10 Jan 2006 07:17 GMT2
Hi there.  It used to be, pre-OSX, that booting from the install CD
would still load a desktop and mount your hard drive, so if your system
got corrupted you could examine and back up the contents of your drive
before reinstalling the system.  A friend of mine is in the same boat ...
File visibility10 Jan 2006 05:24 GMT2
What could cause a file created under Mac OS X (3.5.1) to
become invisible when moved to a Mac OS 9.2 folder?
File Won't Delete10 Jan 2006 05:23 GMT3
I have a file in my Trash, I don't know how it got there:
Default Folder X copy.prefPane
I empty the trash, it goes nowhere.  Nor does trash complain. I pull it
out and look at it.  It's not locked. What gives?
Explain this one: OS 9 app runs fine under OS X10 Jan 2006 05:06 GMT4
Remember how I was impressed that the Eudora I had on my 9.1 G4 ran
great under OS X in classic mode?  I restarted (after installing a few
updates) and started up Eudora again the same way I had
before -- by clicking on an alias to its preferences.   I then realized

What is the easiest way to get OS X to save syslog entries for more
than 7 days? Appologies in advance if this should be obvious.
Thanks,
Locke
