I need to move my daughters machine to the later version and don't
have a clue as to how to go about things like purchasing the Operating

When I try to find a file (cmd-f) in Tiger's finder from a piece of its
name, I have to manipulate the mouse too much. The reason is that the search
application (Is it spotlight?) opens up requesting "Kind" and "Last Opened".
To get to "Name contains" requires a mouse operation.

Has any provision been made with the new (intel-based) macs to allow
existing software to be run? My guess is no.

I killed my Desktop.
While writing a script to move files off the Desktop,
I advertently moved the entire Desktop folder
and then, not realizing it, deleted it.

I recently purchased an iMacG5 (20"-er!!) and whatta gem!!!
The thing is, I've 'graduated' from OS9 to 10.3.9. Back during 9 it was
prudent to rebuild the desktop on occasion.
Now... I was told it is a good idea to Verify & Repair Disk Permissions.

I periodically email Unsanity and ask for a particular feature. They always
respond that it will be considered but probably not unless there's demand.
Well, I'm asking you to consider this.

computer with its index file. Does anyone know where I can find this?
Also, does anyone know if Spotlight indexes mounted volumes? Or does it
use the index from that shared volume to do its search?
