I have a collection of over a thousand MP3s to put in iTunes. I would like to keep them in the proper play order and use the Album, Artist, Title, etc. for the titles of the subdivisions. Of course, I could number those, but it would be nice if

Hi -- The video on my iBook G3 just went black ... again! I'm trying to remember what I have to do so that the family iMac G4 will see it as an external hard drive. Then I can copy files over and bring it to the shop. This is an emergency. Thanks!

| Firewire on new iPods? | 14 Jan 2006 23:09 GMT | 17 |
Hello all, Christmas has replaced my stolen 3rd Generation iPod with a 5th Gen. Photo. Is there any reason why I couldn't use the Firewire cord from the old model with the new one? When I read that the new ones were using USB, I figured that the dock

| Classic's QuickTime requirements | 14 Jan 2006 22:36 GMT | 1 |
I have a Mac Mini running Panther 10.3.9, and the Classic System Folder seems to have version 5.0.2 of QuickTime. It has no issues. My father, however, bought a newer Mac Mini, with Tiger 10.4.3. He copied over his System Folder from his ancient G3, which I think also has

I have a strange problem with my Mac. It's a dual 2.0 G5 from May 2005 with 1.5 GB RAM, running OS X 10.4.3. It now can't resolve any web pages in Firefox or Safari. Firefox says, e.g., "can't find google.com". Safari says I'm "not connected to the Internet". It's like

| Q: What software to use to convert between different audio formats? | 14 Jan 2006 19:30 GMT | 5 |
Specifically I'd like to convert MP3 to MIDI or at least downconvert a high bit rate MP3 to a lower bit rate MP3. The reason is for ringtones for my cell phone. My phone only uses MIDI, Polyphonic, or lower bit rate MP3's and I'd like to change my ringtone from time to time with

| APBinary3.dat | 14 Jan 2006 18:55 GMT | 2 |
Seems that almost every time I repair permissions (10.3.9) the same file -APBinary3.dat in System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ - needs to be repaired. I can't find any information about it (nor even which of the sub-directories it resides in since Find doesn't find it) and would be

| ATA-133 drive in an ATA-100 system? help wanted | 14 Jan 2006 15:16 GMT | 3 |
I'm a mac webmaster and I've just put a Maxtor 200GB ATA-133 drive in my Mirrored Drive Doors G4 Tower, which has a 66 and 100 chain. I figured things are backward compatible. I might have gotten a little ahead of myself, and this is my first 100+ GB drive... the 'more than

| orphaned OS X files-DiskWarrior issue | 14 Jan 2006 14:46 GMT | 1 |
I tried running DiskWarrior 2.1.1 from OS9 about a year or so ago, to look at a HD that had OSX installed. Hey, I didn't know any better. It ended up placing several files into a Rescued Items folder. I have left them there ever since, encountering no known problems. But now
