Tried posting this in c.s.m.apps but got no response, so here goes again.
I'm on a Quicksilver G4 using OS 10.3.9.  Over the past few weeks I've
been getting mail from folks who ARE in my Address Book (and also
previous recipients list) but OSX Mail has been marking them as Junk

 I have upgraded to the newest .mac backup and use it to back up my
entire home drive to an external home drive as part of my overall backup
strategy. With the new version, it behaves a little different in that
rather than creating and maintaining a single backup set it creates ...

In using SystemStarter, e.g.
  sudo SystemStarter start MyDaemon
Does this mean that the daemon must already be present
in /Library/StartupItems or /System/Library/StartupItems ?

Hi. I'm not sure of the proper terminology, but I want to create a disk
image of my current OS setup (10.4.2, Apple updates, personal
configuration settings and preferences, 3rd party applications, etc.)
that I can use to clone another Mac on my network. I want setting up

For a couple of years I've been fighting with a UMAX Mirage II scanner,
trying to get it to work under OS X (currently 10.3.8).
UMAX doesn't support OS X and, for a while I was booting into OS 9 when
I needed to scan, then switching back, which is a pain.

Everytime I go idle, my mad tries to log me out of programs. Just so
it won't sign me out of my username, I have to have notepad opend
and unaved, that way it asks me if I want to close it, and when I
don't answer it won't shut down. PLEASE tell me how to fix this

I'm hoping somebody can help me with a problem that I have with my Mac
every so often.  I have a strong suspicion about what's happening
physically, but, in addition to wanting to know whether I'm right,
I'd like to find out WHY the problem is occurring and how it can be

I have a G4, 1.25ghz, 4MB VRAM, 2GB RAM, and I'm trying to see if I can copy
a scene from a DVD I purchased.  Does anyone know how I do that, if it's
even possible, and, if so, what software do I need?

Hi.  I am a new Mac user, and I'm loving it (G4 12" Powerbook).  I have
been getting some random popup ads even when on trusted sites.  I have
done some reading on this group, and everyone claims that there is no
such things as Mac adware.  My experience seems to be showing me

I have sbc dsl. And the mail service is tied to Yahoo. I receive lots
of attachments in the mail. Mainly photos and a few movie files. Yahoo
mail, now virus scans every attachment I open in my inbox. They didn't
do this before. Now all of a sudden I have to go through 2 extra steps

There are two of us, both running OS X 10.4, and both connected via a Linksys
wireless router. Each of us has a printer, mine is a Canon ip8500 and hers is
a HP-1300, and each of us has enabled printer sharing via the system
preferences.

Any truth to the rumor that Apple has recently started to ship 1.5 GHz
Mac Mini's with more video RAM ?
The Brit's seem to think so, judging by their posts in uk.comp.sys.mac

isn't a good idea for a reboot?  What goes wrong, and how can I fix it?

Im running Tiger on a G4, ive bought an HP laserjet 2550. when i
first tried to print from quark, i just got stacks of postscript
errors, HP told me i had to output as ASCII not binary.
Thats ok, but not ok when images im using in my document do include

Is there any sort of program that is like the Windows Virtual Machine,
but for Windows? I want to be able to run the Mac OS on my Windows
Computer.
