DVD regional code with MacOS X?15 Oct 2005 16:32 GMT16
When I first stuck a DVD into my new iMac running Tiger I was asked to
select a regional code.
Where is this information stored and checked? On the DVD drive hardware,
in MacOS, or in the player information?
connecting mac's over the net15 Oct 2005 10:48 GMT3
Hi, I know there's an app that makes it possible to manipulate a mac
from another mac. My girlfriend sometimes needs little help using my
G4, while I'm on the road with my iBook. Both run Tiger. Can anyone
give me the name of the app? Thx in advance.

Can Mac OS 10.4 be configured to send a fixed host name with a DHCP
request? Does it support /etc/dhcp.conf, as other Unix systems?

Sometimes I have to use my powerbook when my SO is sleeping in the same
room. I am thinking of getting one of the USB ligths to help me see the
keyboard (do envy those who have lighted keyboards!). If you have tried
a few of these gadgets, which one is the best? Thanks.

The Video iPod: Next-Gen Public Access TV?14 Oct 2005 14:13 GMT1
And would that necessarily be a bad thing? ;-)
Well, maybe a proliferation of Andy Milonakises would be. I suppose
it's a very small step from audio podcasts to video podcasts, huh?
Labels in OSX14 Oct 2005 14:12 GMT5
In 9.2 and before, I used to label folders and files which were in the
extensions and preference folders blue as they were installed. So if
some program or installer inserted some files, I could easily detect
them and either trash them if I didn't want them there or color them
How to launch Displays with dead iBook screen?14 Oct 2005 12:46 GMT2
Here's a toughie, a friend has an iBook or some Mac laptop running OS
10.3.  The laptop screen is dead.
If he plugs in an external monitor the Mac treats it as a second monitor
to the right of the laptop screen.
