When I run a long running perl script and go away for awhile, when the computer goes to sleep (power save or whatever you call it) it seems like the perl script is also suspended until I wake the machine up. Is this how things actually

| MacSoup | 25 Sep 2005 23:00 GMT | 10 |
I'm trying out MacSoup as a newsreader. I've set it up as per the instruction manual, and it all works well. Just three little problems. 1. How do I set up and send a signature with a news posting? I can't find it in the manual.

| CD with 100+ tracks? | 25 Sep 2005 21:30 GMT | 10 |
I have a sound effects CD with more than 100 tracks. I'd like to rip MP3s from this disc, but OSX seems to only recognize the first 99. I've tried lots of different ideas - iTunes, Finder, Toast - Terminal, even. Nothing seems to be able to see beyond the 99th track.

| iPhoto bug? | 25 Sep 2005 18:25 GMT | 1 |
I tried this on two different systems. I'm using a Powerbook G4 15" with a gig of RAM and the latest OS. I'm using iPhoto 5.0.4. I edit a picture. I open the Adjust panel and adjust the sharpness of an image. When I am done, it says the changes are saved but they are not.

| Couldn't boot from DVD | 25 Sep 2005 18:09 GMT | 7 |
I tried holding the normally recommended keys down when it was starting. Then when I used a Tiger CD (the first out of four) it worked fine. Anything else I should be checking? I really want to be able to reinstall from the DVD in the future.

I have a Wacom Intuos 2 that works fine on OS X. However, I can't install it on OS 9 because it does not see that it is plugged into the USB port, which it is. Wacom told me I should be able to install it. I'm trying to install it into OS 9 in OS 9. Can anyone help me?

| Windoze workstations keeps asking for password to OSX box | 25 Sep 2005 09:49 GMT | 4 |
I have an iMac OSX 10.3 box with sharing enabled. The Mac's printer is shared too. This is all via a wired LAN using DHCP. However, when a Windows (XP) attempts to connect to any shared resource on the Mac, it asks for a username and password, with no obvious way to

| Backup 3.0 and WebDAV | 25 Sep 2005 05:31 GMT | 1 |
I'm interested in using Apple's new Backup 3.0 to backup data to a webdav server that I have. Is it possible to do this? I know OS X has built-in support for WebDAV, as I often use my server for manually backing-up files, but it seems that Backup 3.0 only supports .Mac,

| latest security update kills emacs 22.0 | 24 Sep 2005 20:21 GMT | 3 |
Looks like the latest security update breaks emacs 22.0. Not a big deal for those of us who build it ourselves - just a matter of building it again. But if you downloaded some random prebuilt version from the web, you're probably out of luck until you find a new one.
