PROBLEM: FROZEN MOUSE POINTER (USING OS 9)29 Sep 2005 11:47 GMT3
Lately my mouse pointer has been freezing on the screen or has
uncontrolably been dropping slowly down to the screen buttom.  This can
happen very very often.  Sometimes once every five minutes.  Pretty
annoying don't you think?
PowerMac G3 behaving badly... again29 Sep 2005 09:44 GMT7
Hi, all. Here's the situation. I'm currently posting this on my old UMAX
Supermac C500. Reason? Well... I recently (June 29) bought a used
PowerMac G3 all-in-one unit at a local used computer store. It crashed
the following Thursday, refusing to recognize the HD. Took it back, was
verify vs. repair29 Sep 2005 09:41 GMT2
What difference does verify vs. repair make in the OS X utility? Both
seem to take the same amount of time. Why not skip verify and just do
repair?
How to set up a dumb printer on OS X?29 Sep 2005 08:06 GMT6
Can anyone tell me how to persuade OS X to believe it has a really dumb
printer attached?  Think teletype or converted typewheel printer. A
printer that only has one typeface, one size, can't do any graphics, can
only accept ASCII input.
tiger printing problem finally resolved...29 Sep 2005 06:01 GMT1
Wow... I finally found a site where someone had actually solved the
problem of printing from a Mac w/OS X Tiger to a remote network printer
which happens to be the HP Laserjet 1012 on a windows box.
Meanwhile, Linux/CUPS has no problems at all printing to the same

set the default paper type on Epson under tiger?29 Sep 2005 02:05 GMT4
Using an Epson Stylus Photo 2200, I can't seem to figure out how
to tell the Epson printer setting (and have it remember) that I
have a particular paper type installed, such as Premium Luster
Photo paper.  Each time I print something, it defaults back to
Print to PDF, question29 Sep 2005 01:27 GMT5
There is this Mac I just reinstalled and updated to 10.4.2. "Print to
pdf" option is not there. Just "Preview". I've checked Library/PDF
Services, it's there, bunch of scripts inside too, yet it doesn't show.
Rebuilding directories and fixing permisions didn't help. Any pointers?
Looking for a more masculine mac28 Sep 2005 23:39 GMT20
I was considering moving to mac as I've always wanted to try out Apple
products and the mac-mini appears to be reasonably priced, the problem
is my friends basically think it's "uncool" telling me that "only
queers and jews use macs". I hate giving in to peer pressure... but I
.wmv won't play28 Sep 2005 22:20 GMT4
Any HTML wizards able to identify why the lower right hand graphic at
http://www.nicetoknow.info/freesample02.htm
refuses to play in Safari, Firefox & Camino (iBook G4, Tiger). They
don't even seem to acknowledge that it is a .wmv file. Windoze boxes
Firewire burner and OS 928 Sep 2005 21:57 GMT1
I would like to know is it possible to burn CD/DVD using a firewire
burner running OS 9?  Which software can do the job?  (Toast 6 for OS
9?) I forgot the difference between -R and +R, please refresh my
memory.
suddenly -- apps appear as docs!28 Sep 2005 17:16 GMT2
I could really use some help on this one.
Anticipating a big upgrade (I'm running 10.1.5), I bought a backup
drive and backed up all of my essential files including the main
Applications folder. Then I went on a trip and when I returned I
Backing up user account28 Sep 2005 16:57 GMT12
If I back up my user account, does that effectively back up all of the email,
bookmarks as well as documents and pictures and other personal files?
