My company has two locations that need access to the same shared folder

Location B would like to connect to that Mac's shared folder and
interact real time with the documents. The Mac hosting the shared

Fax Modem Doesn't Hangup07 Sep 2005 23:15 GMT1
Using an iMac (1 gig, 15 inch flatscreen, lampshade) with Tiger, the
modem is now having trouble hanging up between faxes (when sending)
and I've been having to reboot each time to reset the modem.
Is there any simpler, reliable way of hanging up the modem?
Query- how to tighten the hinge on my Powerbook 15" 1ghz07 Sep 2005 20:00 GMT3
Newbie to the fray here so I'll be brief.
My beloved PB is gettin' a little creaky. Any of you Übergeeks want to
instruct me as to how to not completely kill my system, and/or any
replacement bushings, connectors, et al.......
MAC OS X - Windows Server 2003: Length of file names07 Sep 2005 19:36 GMT2
I work with a Mac OS X Client who is connected to a Windows Server 2003 via
AFP. I am programming on the Mac and copy the whole project (e.g. for
backup) to the Windows Server. Now I have the problem that I have file names
who have a length of 33 characters and more. I can't copy ...
iTunes Logic07 Sep 2005 18:30 GMT1
I can not seem to figure out what logic iTunes uses to read an ID3 tag.
I have been tagging all of my music with a separate program (Tag &
Renam) and then adding the new folders to my iTunes library.  Now there
are two seperate fields on the ID3 tag, one being "Artist" and the
Simultaneous backups?07 Sep 2005 17:40 GMT1
I know this is a dumb question, but what the hell.
I have two 40 GB FireWire drives daisy-chained to my OS 10.3.9 laptop,
which has about 20 GB total data on its internal HD.  Every few days I
do a Retrospect incremental backup to one of these and a SuperDuper!
What's up with THIS weird behavior...?07 Sep 2005 16:55 GMT3
I have a Mac Mini running OSX 10.3.9.
Recently, it "changed its protocol" (for lack of a better term) on me
without my knowledge or consent.
Used to be, when I turned it on, a progress bar would appear as it booted
Mail keeps crashing07 Sep 2005 16:49 GMT1
Mail "Quits Unexpectedly" at least once/day, usually while getting mail.
I even send in those reports to Apple.
Is it just me?

Font crossover between Classic and Panther07 Sep 2005 16:20 GMT5
This might be an Adobe specific problem, but it seems sensible to start
here.
I have Illustrator 5.0, which only runs in Classic.  I have After
Effects 5.5, which runs in Panther.  I'm trying to create a text object
G5 Hard Drive Data recovery after Crash07 Sep 2005 15:25 GMT3
My dual processor G5 has a Maxtor 160 GB hard drive that crashed with a
repeating "whistle-click" sound. Apple will replace it but authorized
attempted data recovery. I will remove the top cover and see if there
is any obvious mechanical problem I can correct. Has anyone else tried
Calculator crahsing upon currency update and iTunes problem07 Sep 2005 14:49 GMT1
I am encountering two problems:
1) My calculator application crashes whenever I hit the "update
currency" button.
2) When I burn music from my computer onto a CD (mp3's) nothing
G5 Hard Drive Crash-won't start from CD07 Sep 2005 12:25 GMT4
I left my Dual Processor G5 2.5 GHz machine running OS 10.4.1 and
several apps. When I came back the drive was making a repetitive
click-whistle-click-whistle sound, and computer was crashed.  I placed
a boot disc in the CD drive and tried to reboot by holding down C and
Why cant I email plain old Mac files to mac users?07 Sep 2005 11:47 GMT32
In the old mac OS I could email a plain old mac file to a mac user, but
in OSX this does not seem to be the case.  I always have to .sit, .zip,
or .hqx a file before sending it these days.  What a pain, but its life.
