Bizarre sound-quality issue with iTunes31 Aug 2005 23:50 GMT6
My iPod Mini started sounding odd this afternoon (songs were skipping,
sounded like two songs were playing at once, etc), so I plugged it into
my computer thinking that would fix it. Big mistake. All of the songs
on my iTunes (including ones that were not in the iPod) now sound like
Bluetooth headset for music?31 Aug 2005 23:18 GMT3
I've seen ads for new bluetooth iPod headsets, but are any available
for laptops or desktops?
I have a Bluetooth-enabled iBook and would rather not have the headset
cord hanging around when listening to music.

I'm helping moving a friend into a new office who has a network of Mac's.
The new office has a Ethernet switch / patch cable cabinet that is shared
with other companies in the same office.
I'm familiar with Windows networks, however was confused by the Mac ones. On

dual G5 -- do you recommend it?31 Aug 2005 16:19 GMT50
I have been happily loping along with a 500 mhz Cube. With 1.5
gigahertz of memory and a 7500 rpm hard drive, it is impressively
snappy, but my wish to upgrade to Tiger and to run a dual-monitor
extended desktop has me hankering for more speed. (I have two of the

mysterious loss of network31 Aug 2005 12:10 GMT4
OS 10.4.2, but problem in all versions of Tiger. My puter is permanently
wired into T1 connection by ethernet. Every morning I come in to work
and I have lost the network connection. No error log I can find. network
tab in system prefs just shows no (DHCP assigned)IP address , ...
HTML to PDF/PostScript using style sheets?31 Aug 2005 11:33 GMT5
Can anyone please recommend me a package (either free or commercial) for
MacOS X which will convert HTML to PostScript _including_ processing the
style sheets correctly?
All the free ones I'm aware of don't make any use of style sheets, and so

I thought of another possible way to get my silly iMac to sleep after I

Maybe there's  some way to run a script at logout time (or start up a

I am just coming back to the Mac world (no pun intended) after a long
absence. My mac knowledge ended before OSX so I hope people will
tolerate a couple of naive questions.  I do have a good background with
MacOS <9, *nix, and PCs.   If there's a better place to post these
Mac Mini - reconstruction - better cooling/hard drive options30 Aug 2005 23:51 GMT6
So I got the Mini apart without a fuss and disassembled it and was wondering:
I want to run it temporarily without the cpu fan.  Is it possible?
What's a recommendation on how to prop up the hard drive?  I don't want the
plastic housing in their temporarily.  I want to see how cool ...

I've asked this twice before and got absolutely no replies, but since I
have nowhere else to turn to, I'm trying here again:
I have 10.4 installed on my computer at work. iSync is set to sync every
hour. Wheneve it starts the sync process, a prompt appears asking for my
