MT-Newswatcher and Group Settings31 Aug 2008 10:08 GMT8
I've defined a group settings for fr.misc.finance (not
fr.misc.finance.*) with a different personality. But when I post in the
group fr.misc.finance.banque, the post inherit the personality defined
in the other group.

i'm trying to set up my old powermac as a dial-up internet and file
server... i want to be able to dial in from my macbook pro and get
(slow) access to my cable internet connection.  also, being able to
access the powermac's files would be a cool bonus.
Mac Wireless USB dongles?27 Aug 2008 16:33 GMT14
I was trying a TRENDnet TEW-229UB 802.11b wireless LAN USB adapter on a
newer Mac and couldn't get it recognized.  I've tried WLan, as well as
some Zyadas chipset Mac drivers with no luck.  It just seems invisible
when its plugged in.
Can't give IP address to laserwriter 16/60020 Aug 2008 20:02 GMT2
I seem to have a bit of a problem with my laserwriter (A 16/600
if that matters) printer: I setup my solaris box to act as its rarpd so
the printer can get its IP (i.e. add the MAC to /etc/ethers, the IP I
want to give to the printer to /etc/hosts, and ran rarpd). The printer

I am setting up an older beige G3 for a friend on the net running 8.5

I was watching the "Font Conference" video,
http colon slash slash www.collegehumor dot com/video:1823766
and suddenly, the browser window was moved to the bottom right corner
of the monitor with only a small portion of the top-left of the window
Virus13 Aug 2008 19:27 GMT4
There seems to be a bit of a motion for virus protection using Macs these
days.  And because they're selling more and more (again) I guess we could see
this one coming.  But what's the best product out there just to be on the
safe side?
Time Capsule Problem11 Aug 2008 16:54 GMT4
I purchased the 1TB Time Capsule to replace an AirPort Extreme.
Everything seemed to be working fine.  It took a while until my hard
drive was backed up using Time Machine.  But then I tried to print to my
AppleTalk printer connected to one of the Time Capsule's Ethernet LAN
How to explain setting up this LAN?08 Aug 2008 04:07 GMT3
Ok, so I've a non-techie friend (hmmm... sounds dodgy already :-D Do I
_really_ have a friend? Heh) who lives remotely so I can't easily visit
her. She has a Dynalink RTA1320 ADSL modem/router with one ethernet port
(and a USB port that is Windows only). This has been fine up till
Q: Interference Robustness?06 Aug 2008 06:38 GMT2
I don't seem to see any difference in my wireless connection whether
it's on or off so what's it supposed to do? I use a Linksys WRT 301N as
my router. Thanks.
Weird once only internet connection04 Aug 2008 23:18 GMT11
I'm trying to help out a friend who has two Macs on a network connected via
ADSL to the internet.  I should warn you in advance that I'm not a Mac
user!).
They've got a really weird problem on one of their machines (a G5 running

the DNS number etc.?
I am setting this up for someone else and there is a remote
