The friend who is visiting me is using my laptop, a PowerBook G4 running 10.4.11 with a wireless connection to my router. I am using a recent iMac OS 10.5.3 with a wired connection. When she runs Safari, she frequently gets the message "the computer is

| Network stack: three strikes and you're out.... | 28 Jun 2008 22:25 GMT | 7 |
I keep getting bitten by an annoying bug in the TCP/IP system. You can change from say a DHCP network configuration to a static IP address. No rebooting needed; this is a real OS. You can change it again, great...

For the past several days, I've been unable to connect to Adobe.com. I get a timeout when I try. This happens on both my Mac and my PC. A friend says he gets on just fine. Any ideas as to what could be wrong? TIA!

| Free UseNet: Aioe seems a good alternative | 25 Jun 2008 19:09 GMT | 9 |
Time Warner-RoadRunner has made good on its threat to discontinue UseNet. While they are wrapping themselves in Mom, The Flag, and Apple Pie by claiming to be fighting kiddy porn, they are actually just exercising their monopoly power to limit free speech by discontinuing

| Magic packet wakes remote Mac, but then it goes back to sleep... | 11 Jun 2008 12:28 GMT | 4 |
I'm interested in having an old MDD G4 in our computer room for occasional file synchronisation. As usage is intermittent, having the machine asleep most of the time seems sensible.

| WiFi frequencies | 09 Jun 2008 18:25 GMT | 17 |
I have a Time Machine that I'm using as a base station and an Airport Express. They're both capable of 5 GHz. I also have a WiFi printer and a iPhone(*) on the network, but they can handle only 2.4 GHz. Does the Time Machine communicate on both frequencies, or does it revert

After installing security update 2008-2, and rebooting, A dialog appeared asking if I wanted to block a port for Executor. Before I had a chance to read it fully or click on any buttons, the dialog closed by itself.

| Addresses within MT-NW | 03 Jun 2008 14:56 GMT | 8 |
One of the nice features of MT-NewsWatcher is the auto complete for email addresses. Where are the addresses stored? The reason for asking is some have changed and I would like to edit the list of stored addresses.

| ARRRRGH! Apple Mail is now using the wrong email address by default | 02 Jun 2008 20:43 GMT | 8 |
...unless I pick one specifically in it's prefs. What the HELL could be causing this? It just started happening today. Shouldn't it be using the address of account I was last in? Instead it's using the last address entered in the email address field in Account prefs.
