question about networking when running windows on macbook25 May 2008 13:19 GMT8
Hope this question is appropriate for here. My employer will be buying
me a laptop as part of a new job I have with them. They only support PCs
for networking, but I only use Macs in my work (music.) I'd like them to
get me a macbook, and I'd run windows on it in addition to OS X. ...

MacSOUP 2.8.2 still gets stuck fetching headers21 May 2008 04:05 GMT2
MacSOUP 2.8.2 still gets stuck fetching headers if you set it to only
download a set number of articles, but NOT if you set to download the
lot. It just flickers endlessly in the progress window and nothing is
accomplished. It happens with several different groups, but not all of

Can I run DSL on this "broken" Mac Pismo?18 May 2008 20:37 GMT25
Recently my 8-year old Pismo finally broke, its dial up modem
refuses to work.   Everything else is okay on it however.
I am very reluctant to junk the old Mac.
Fixing/replacing its old modem may not be feasible, or so I am
Connecting a eige G3 (OS9.2) wirelessly to the net16 May 2008 20:10 GMT4
I have three computers, a G4 Quicksilver, a beige G3 tower running
OS9.2, and a Dell running Windows (there are good reasons for having
all three, plus I keep the G3 because all my software is OS9.2 and I
don’t want to spend money getting the OSX versions for software I

How many people can use a DSL line, at a time?
I'm looking for a new ISP for my non-profit. I called Covad, I heard
they are the back-end providers for some/many ISPs. They seemed to be
priced higher than the others. They said they provide a "dedicated"

First I guess I need to know where to post this problem. Re 17" G4

idea how or when it got there. I can't unlock it and can't trash it -
would like to be rid of it.

Where do you go to find the ODBC drivers for Excel on the MAC.  I know
exactly what to do on the Windows side, but I know nothing of the MAC world.

Wired vs. Wireless speed11 May 2008 08:40 GMT6
I just want to ask your opinions on my connection speeds, and whether
everything is kosher. I have a FiOS 20mb down 5mb up connection. When
connected via ethernet cable (12" Powerbook G4 867mhz, 1GB RAM),
speedtest.net says I do in fact get 20,800 kbps down and 5,075 kbps up.
