Internet -- from computer to computer? This would be mostly with friends
and sometimes clients. I use ftp often, but none of the people I would
be exchanging files with do. I could give them the address of a

I have a friend with a problem. They work on a boat, and they need
to get weather reports via wireless broadband. The harbor where their

I thought that the FTP function built into the Finder was read-only, and
that it wouldn't let you upload files.  Then I read this week's Apple

Force use of web proxy for particular web site?27 Jun 2007 23:53 GMT6
The Network pane in System Preferences allows you to specify a web proxy
and then addresses for which you want to bypass the proxy, but what I
want is the opposite.
Namely by default don't use a web proxy, but force it for a particular
iphoto import from Websites etc.27 Jun 2007 17:40 GMT1

remote storage and video editing?26 Jun 2007 04:59 GMT3
I currently have 2 Macs & 1 XP machine at home. The Macs are both
laptops (1 PowerBook and 1 MacBookPro); my wife who uses the PowerBook
is constantly running out of HD space. Having 2 small kids, we put a
bunch of pictures and smaller videos on it, and it just filled up the

Safari 3.0.2 beta23 Jun 2007 14:50 GMT6
I'm downloading Safari 3.0.2 beta as I write this, so of course I can't
say anything about its performance yet, but I was amused to notice that
Safari 3.0 beta encountered one error opening the thank you page for the
3.0.2 download.
switching to Bellsouth DSL22 Jun 2007 21:37 GMT14
I'm considering getting DSL from Bellsouth.  It's frustrating to seek
information at their website.
I have a Bellsouth phone line.  Besides computer software, what would
the installation require except plugging in a modem and some filters?
