Is there a way to get OS X (10.3 in my case) to automatically do something
when the network gets initialised? I gave a powerbook, which i take from

I am trying to move files from an old PPC 7500 to a G4 laptop. I have
set up an ethernet connection so they can see each other: one in the
chooser and the other from GO Network.

Here is the situation: A friend living in Australia needs
to provide computer support to his old father who lives

I'm the bastard Mac child on an all-Windows network. Not much IT support,

Yesterday my aliases to our main file server stopped working. Connections to
other file servers continue to work fine. Co-workers' Windows machines are

Ever since I connected my iBook to a wireless network using built-in
airport, it must select the network at startup and will also select
the network again when recovering from stand-by mode. This has been
