My previous router flaked out and I decided to replace it with a new
Linksys WRT150N.  It supports the 802.11n draft, so I'll be ready for a
new MacBook Pro when I get one in the (hopefully) not too distant future.
But I've got an issue I can't quite figure out.  Instead of WPA, ...

I have a Mac mini with the latest OS X (10.4.8 or so).. It has a cable
modem plugged in via Ethernet.  I turn on Internet Sharing with the
Ethernet as to share from, and Airport "to computers using".  I set a
40 bit wireless key.  My PC laptop (Windows XP) detects the network,

Panther, 1.2 GHz G4, 1.5 Gb RAM.
Since the last security update, the computer no longer automatically
selects our wireless network. So far I have:
1. Selected the network (the only one broadcasting its SSID in our area)

Happily used iMac G5 with cable modem and wired Linksys router which
provided shared internet etc with my wife's G3 iBook, and HP network
printer shared by both computers.
Recent house move makes this almost impossible, as iMac in one room,
