I have been using Macs for about a year now. I have an internet cafe I like to visit. A couple weeks ago as I was powering off I got a message that if I did power off I would disconnect a user. There should not have been any of course, so I shut down.

Anyone had practical experience with connecting a laptop to a small (and infrequently used) scanner (Fujitsu ScanSnap or Canon CanonScan/LIDE) through 20 to 25 feet of USB cable? Is this too long for the job? Will a USB hub at the far end help?

With all the hoopla about Google searches being saved forever, I'm wondering if searches initiated through the search bars in Safari or Firefox are saved and traceable as are are searches done directly from Google's website.

Hi all. I have a MacBook which is connected wirelessly to my home network. I also have a Windows XP desktop machine, which has a USB printer attached to it. I have the printer set up as a shared printer and am able to print to it from the MacBook (which is very cool).

I am trying to get a Dell to find a G4's Airport Extreme's Base Station. It can't find it since it's been re-configured at the Apple Store. It's a DSL connection. Dell has Windows XP and the Mac, OS X 3.9.
