Corrupt Entourage database28 Jul 2006 00:50 GMT5
I have managed to corrupt my Entourage database. I arrived back from
holiday and downloaded a large number of e mails and then the computer
froze. When I tried to restart it I had severe problems. I have managed
to restore or save most things except the Entourage database. Can
GPRS/UMTS with Mac Book Pro27 Jul 2006 16:34 GMT4
A friend has been badgering me to consider a Mac Book Pro as I'm
replacing my Windows laptop.  I decided I would but failed to find any
PCMIA slot in the spec.  I recently subscribed to a GPRS service
because where I stay while away from home has no telephone connection
Airport Extreme routing puzzle.27 Jul 2006 03:26 GMT22
I've got a 5-static account from SBC's Yahoo DSL service. It's
worked for a couple of years now, using IP mapping through a
Cayman (now Netopia) 3546 dsl/router onto a 192.168.1.x network.
Addressing is manual, adding a Belkin switch didn't seem to
How do I make my wifi networks my macs default network?26 Jul 2006 16:06 GMT7
I have a wireless network setup at home, and recently my neighbore also
setup one.
He has named his network 'default' and I have my own ID.
When I turn on my MAC it wants to join the 'default' network and not my
External monitor on a G3 iBook24 Jul 2006 11:27 GMT15
Got one today and I can't get it to work with the top down on the laptop
itself.  I guess I could live with that but I'd like to have it closed.  The
Help section says to close the lid, then connect the monitor and wait for a
few seconds.  Which I've done and then the external ...

AE works in store, not at home!24 Jul 2006 02:05 GMT3
a couple of months ago I bought an Airport Express to connect
wirelessly to my internet connection.. I plugged it in and it worked
perfectly; didn't do any set up or anything! Then... it stopped working
and all I could get was the dreaded flashing amber light. I tried
modem log20 Jul 2006 23:32 GMT10
I posted a few times in the past few days about erratic cable modem
service. A line tech tested my signal strength last Saturday and said it
was fine. Tomorrow my ISP is sending another tech to look at the actual
coaxial cable going from my house to their pole outside. Since I ...
Non-Airport wireless for iMac DV?19 Jul 2006 19:16 GMT3
The Airport card in my old (2000) iMac DV is working intermittently/not
at all. Rather than try to find a new "real" Airport 802.11b card, I was
wondering whether I could instead use one of those external USB 802.11g
dongles. They are certainly less expensive. Anyone have any ...
need help: using dyn ip, sorbs.net lists it, prohibits mail18 Jul 2006 12:56 GMT3
I have my own web and mail server, connected over ADSL, using a dynamic
ip (DNS from www.zoneedit.com).
Now one of my suppliers will not let me send mail to him - it seems his
mail provider uses sorbs.net listings of dynamically assigned ip
Linksys modem woes17 Jul 2006 23:12 GMT4
Except for a few ISP-related problems (including recent hardware
upgrades that shut everyone down), my cable connection (Linksys
EtherFast modem BEFCMU10 and Linksys router BEFSR11) has been flawless
for the past year and a half. But yesterday I had several hours of no
ssh to mySql to use admin/query browser17 Jul 2006 16:52 GMT6
I'm trying to get mySQL admin setup to work with my hosting service via
ssh. Got it working on my windows machine using secureCRT - so it seems
everything is in place for it to work.
Here's what i do:
iWeb17 Jul 2006 14:36 GMT6
I'm still a little confused about this one and haven't been able to find the
answer I'm looking for.   Does iWbe include an actual FTP client which will
work with any webspace or only for .mac?
I haven't bought it yet as it comes with the new machines but it's going to
Hex key format, Airport Admin vs Airport Extreme17 Jul 2006 03:02 GMT4
In trying to get an Airport Extreme base station set up at home
it appears that the WEP hex key format differs between the base
station and an Airport Extreme card in a client.
The card will accept something like 0Xabcde, but the Airport
Congrats on MT-Newswatcher 3.516 Jul 2006 03:58 GMT3
Kudos Simon on the update.  3.4 was crashing on me all the time.  I
didn't see any reference to that in the Version History that came w/
3.5.1, which was a bit scary.  But the crash problem seems to be fixed
anyway (knock on wood).  Way to go!  Rave review so far.
