I have the privilege of using my AlBook 15" on my corporate network,
but the paranoid head of telecom keeps closing stuff, so that I can no
longer access my private e-mail (outside the corporate net) via POP, as
port 110 got closed from 3 Jan.
How to clear Os9 comms blockage?08 Feb 2006 04:36 GMT6
I have two computers on my desk, one a G4 TiBook running 10.3.9 and
connected wirelessly to my 2MB DSL line via a Netgear DG834G; and the
other, which I prefer for most of my work, a spiffing PowerMac 7500
running Os9.1 and connected by ethernet wire to the same router.

I maintain two non-profit web sites that are on the same server, run by
the local library. I've been ftping files to them for two years with no
problems. (I use Transmit.) A few days ago, I couldn't upload anything.
I called the server administrator, who said a new firewall had ...

Tried to switch to Apple Mail (newest version, 2.0.5 (746/746.2)) from

Got Mail working beforehand (sending and fetching mail trough SSL ...

I'm trying to hook up my PowerBook to a linksys wireless router but

Wi-Fi WPA05 Feb 2006 21:37 GMT3
With all the discussion regarding Wi-Fi security on this newsgroup and
comp.sys.mac.system, I decided that I would implement WPA-TKIP (or WEP
if WPA wouldn't work on my System). After setting it up in my Belkin
F5D7230-4 router, I was able to get a Wi-Fi connection with my TiBook ...

If I receive an email attachment and download it to my desktop, then
after making changes save it with a new name, when I try to attach the
revised file to a new email the file is not in the list of files. If I
quit Mail and restart it, then the file shows up in the list. Is there

I have a powemac 4400/200Mhz with a PCI NIC card (Sonic) on one of the

and get their IP addresses automatically. But it is crazy with the ...
S/MIME for Eudora - or which e-mail programme04 Feb 2006 22:19 GMT2
It seems that Eudora on the Mac does not handle S/MIME for automatic
encryption/signature like Mail does.
Is this dropped on Eudora, or is Eudora just lagging on the Mac?
If I have to switch e-mail programmes, which to choose instead? I'd like
