Best browser for OS 9.231 Dec 2005 17:55 GMT2
Hello all, I'm visiting my folks and am using a computer that I'm not
familiar with.
The browsers installed on the computer are not compatible with several
sites and crash often.  I'm using IE:Mac 5.1 as well as Netscape 4.77.
FTP Configuration Question30 Dec 2005 20:27 GMT9
I want to make a CD in a drive (actually any CD in that drive)
available via FTP but that is the only thing I want to make available.
I can't figure out a way of doing this using the FTP and Users
preference panels.  I can turn on FTP without a problem and set up a
Home network and file sharing30 Dec 2005 17:35 GMT6
I am installing a small wireless network, 2 or 3 machines behind a high
speed modem and a routeur. My problem is that I sometimes (rarely) put a
file, too big for mail, into my Public box for a friend to pick it up.
In that case I gave my URL of the day and all went well.
Toast 728 Dec 2005 03:43 GMT2
Has anyone tried this with a G3?  I've got a G3 running Tiger 10.4.3 and the
minimum requirements are a G4 with 10.3.9 or later.
I'd like to use version 7 but if it won't work on this machine, then of
course I won't bother.  It might just run slower and if that's the case then
Replacement Powerbook Feet?26 Dec 2005 05:27 GMT5
Anyone know where to get replacement foot for a powerbook.  Lost one
off the battery cover and it's simply annoying when using the touchpad
button?  Figure I'll lose more in the future so it'd be nice to stock
up now.  Thanks.

Mac OS X Server Mail Problem24 Dec 2005 21:20 GMT9
I just got a Mac OS X Server to use as our mail server
(mail.bolen.bc.ca), and I'm having trouble getting it to receive mail.
(It sends outgoing mail no problem). The SMTP logs record all the
messages trying to arrive, but say that they're being refused. Here's
How do I re-install Panther?24 Dec 2005 20:45 GMT2
I'm running OS 10.3.9, but am having some system difficulties, like it
can't remember view options. How can I re-install 10.3? I have my
original system discs, but they say that I am running a newer version
and will not let me re-install 10.3.
Automatically Re-Mount a File Server24 Dec 2005 17:08 GMT8
I have a Mac OS 8.6 machine that I connect to a server over TCP/IP.
There are times when the connected server will disconnect.  Is there a
program out there, or a way for me to automatically re-mount that server
if the connection goes down, without rebooting the machine?
AirPort Extreme not working well with LinkSys WRT54GS23 Dec 2005 05:06 GMT13
I just spent the entire day trying to get a new airport extreme card
(for iBook G4 on OS 10.3.9) working with our WRT54GS router. After much
work, I am only able to connect with 1 bar of bandwidth power, which
soon drops to none. This is with no security (open), via DHCP.
Airport Card Alternatives22 Dec 2005 20:20 GMT3
I have a 2002 Powerbook G4 which is Airport ready.  I know that
airport cards are readily available on ebay at least, but I was
looking for a cheaper and easier to install alternative, perhaps a
PCI port or USB wireless adapter.  I went to Best Buy and they did
suggestions for a FTP program for OS 8.6 to connect to a machine running Red Hat Linux?22 Dec 2005 17:11 GMT7
Could somebody please make a suggestion of what FTP program I should use
in Mac OS 8.6 to FTP to a friend's computer running Red Hat Linux? For
some reason Fetch 4.0.1, Fetch 3.0.3 and 3.0.1 all stall out on "Getting
directory list" after making the initial connection. I have ...

Help, internet sharing is no longer working18 Dec 2005 05:03 GMT8
I have a G5 power Mac running Tiger. I put a PCI ethernet card in it to
provide internet access to two other machines (a PC and G3) through a
4-port ethernet hub.  It's been working fine for months and then I made
the mistake of turning on the firewall and I could no longer ...
