Turn airport on automatically at boot?15 Aug 2005 03:05 GMT12
I'm happy with the wireless networking on my Mac Mini, except for one
little problem. I have to click "Turn airport on" and then select my
preferred network before I can connect to the network.
I'd like to operate this as a headless box - so I'd like it to connect
REQ: Help with "radio tuning service" error in iTunes13 Aug 2005 17:36 GMT1
Here's a slightly weird iTunes/network problem, which I suspect
may be DNS-related. I haven't tried the built-in iTunes radio
stations in several months, but in the past they worked just fine
for me.
The exchange program12 Aug 2005 05:25 GMT8
Received Tiger in the mail today and because I don't have a dvd burner in my
iBook I'll have to use their exchange program to get the OS in cds.  I find
this a bit stuffy on Apples part as they're charging for the swap.  Why on
earth wasn't this an option when the program is ...
Access Control in Airport from wired LAN10 Aug 2005 22:51 GMT3
I have a wired LAN (PowerMac(10.3.9) and iMac(9.2.2) with a MacWireless
11g Ethernet Adapter connecting to an Airport Extreme base station. The
computers do not themselves have Airport cards. I can use all the
security measures (closed system, WEP 128, etc) except Access Control.
Pan10 Aug 2005 20:15 GMT2
Anyone here ever use Pan for their newsreader?  See it's available for OS-X
and need Fink installed as well...
Screenshots look good?

Networking Mac OS9 and WinXp & 2K09 Aug 2005 20:29 GMT6
I'm sure thios has been asked before, but Googling is noy getting much
luck it seems - at least for me.
I have a WinXP and Win2K networked using the built in software they
have via my router.
Verizon Fios and Macs09 Aug 2005 19:47 GMT7
My undestanding is that Verizon installs an Optical Network Terminal
(OTN) on the outside of the house and a battery backup inside the house
which requires and electrical connection. From there they run a cat5 to
the wireless router they provide.  I have two scenarios I'd like to ...
Delayed finder startup when no internet connection09 Aug 2005 16:46 GMT2
When the Finder starts up (e.g. the first time I login to an account)
while I don't have an internet connection, I get the spinning beachball
for a couple minutes before the Finder actually appears (menus,
windows).
Codec problem08 Aug 2005 14:30 GMT3
I get this error message...

This file may not play correctly because it was compressed by using a codec
that is not supported.
Do .Mac iCards Increase Spam?08 Aug 2005 05:04 GMT1
I have always assumed that entering (real) email addresses into the [send this
article to a friend] or [announce your new website] function on a website
invites added spam to those addresses.  Is this assumption correct?
Now I wonder if the liability of using these functions ...
Should I (and can I) use NFS rather than Apple File Sharing to    access files from home?04 Aug 2005 04:20 GMT3
I'm still fighting slow access when mounting my office G5's hard drive onto
the desktop of my laptop at home (cablemodem connection). I'm told that
apple file sharing is not efficient over the internet; how about NFS - does
Panther offer NFS, and if so, should I be using that? Any ...
iChat - Latency Problem03 Aug 2005 20:16 GMT3
Is there any way to get past a latency problem?
I purchased iSight so that I could have audio and video chats with my
family. I have a Dual 1.25 GHz Power PC G4. I just upgraded to Tiger
after the purchase of iSight. I keep getting the error message that
Anyone using a MacWireless 11g PCI Card rev b?03 Aug 2005 20:08 GMT6
I'm using a MacWireless 11g PCI card rev b installed in a Mac G4 with a
Linksys WRT54G. It works fine if they are in the same room, but several
rooms apart in the house and the Mac G4 doesn't even detect the
network. I tried a PC laptop using a linksys wireless card and there is
