USB to ethernet Imac 18 Jul 2005 20:03 GMT6
I'm trying to help somebody that has an Imac with 9.2.  She cannot get
onto the internet via her cable modem (it was working fine). The best
guess as to what it needs is a new network connection and the least
expensive would be going through the USB.  I'm trying to find one that
Possible Airport problem solution?18 Jul 2005 18:28 GMT2
For several months I've had a problem connecting to the Internet wirelessly with
my G4 iBook. The problem first showed itself after an upgrade to OS X 10.3.7 and
now the Wi-Fi signal fades in and out and does not reach as far as it did
previously. I've pretty much determined the ...
PageSender reports Mac OS X built-in fax software is on16 Jul 2005 16:52 GMT3
PageSender, when I start, says:
"Mac OS X's built-in fax software is on.
Please select System Preferences from the Apple menu, and under the
faxing tab in Print & Fax uncheck 'receive faxes on this computer.'
How do I set up Linksys router for internet connect with Earthlink16 Jul 2005 14:03 GMT19
I have a G5 desktop and Powerbook running 10.4.1, Linksys wired router
(BEFSR41) and Earthlink ISP. I would like to have both connect to the
internet with my DSL modem, but Linksys support is nonexistent.
I have done some reading on DHCP, NAT, VNC, and VPN, but I lost on what
OS-X maintenance16 Jul 2005 01:18 GMT25
What is the best system for OS-X to keep running smooth.  I've used
MacSweeper and found it did more harm than good.  Right now I've got
System Optimizer 4.6.2 and it does work but is there better?  And what
about spyware detecters?  I must have spyware by now but haven't

Disappearing message headers...14 Jul 2005 19:07 GMT1
This isn't really "a problem" - just a question.
When I'm reading newsgroups (I use os 9.2.2 and an OLD version of Netscape
Communicator [4.08], still works fine for viewing text-based news groups), I
will have my group list in front of me, and it will show something like
How to use G4 as a telephone?12 Jul 2005 19:49 GMT2
There's a built in modem and provisions for a headset.  Is there any
software that will me dial a local number and talk using the computer
headset like a normal phone.  (Note:  this is not VOIP.)  Ideally the
software would have voicemail caller ID, and a database which would allow ...
connecting a WinXPHome computer to Airport12 Jul 2005 18:14 GMT3
My wife had to get a Windows laptop, and I'm trying to connect it to our
Airport. It has a 802.11b/g card (we have the old original airport b
version), but it's not connecting even when next to it reliably. When it
does connect, it's not able to get out onto the internet. Googling ...
Safari problem10 Jul 2005 23:56 GMT4
I've got Safari vs 1.0.3 (v85.8.1) on my iBook with OS 10.2.8
When I open some websites instead of getting the complete page, parts of
it are the Quicktime Player logo.  I can't download/reinstall it again
as the only version available is 1.2 and that won't install on my OS.
Wireless Mac networking using Linksys WRT54G routers10 Jul 2005 17:50 GMT6
I have set up a small wireless Mac network using two Linksys
WRT54G routers rather than Apple AirPort Extreme equipment. I
used the Linksys routers rather than AirPort for a number of
reasons: cost, desire to customize/hack, and the desire to
Mystery download activity?10 Jul 2005 10:34 GMT7
Was downloading via BitTorrent and wget, then terminated both. Only Finder
running, yet download activity (via MenuMeters and Activity Monitor) show
~20KB/s download running. Upload activity is minimal (few bytes/sec).
Activity Monitor shows nothing I can identify as the culprit ...
Can't get AppleTalk CP to set to Ethernet10 Jul 2005 01:28 GMT20
I'm trying to set up Verizon DSL with my 7100/66 (with a G3 upgrade
card) and I can't get the AppleTalk Control Panel to set to "Ethernet"
(it says an error occurs, and to check that the connections are correct
[it can be left to Printer, Modem, or Remote]).
Prolific USB/RS232 adpaters under OSX?08 Jul 2005 19:58 GMT19
Has anyone been able to get any of the USB/RS232 adpaters that use the
Prolific 2303 chip to work under OSX? I have tried numerous versions of
the driver that I have found online, and none of them seem to work. I'm
running 10.3.8.
