I am running a Mac G5 with 10.3.9 and have just discovered that at regular but intermittent intervals, several times an hour, the process nmbd attempts to make a UDP contact with a wide variety of addresses mostly US based, but some European, on various ports ranging from 135 to

I've had horrible experiences installing and using all versions of Real Player in the past. I'm willing to try again, with version 10, but I'd like to know others' experiences first.

| Battery problem | 27 Jul 2005 17:15 GMT | 6 |
Is this as bad as it sounds? A week ago, I had a problem with my iBook. It froze up installing something and I couldn't shut if off in any method. So I removed the battery which of course made it turn off. After replacing it, I've found after getting a full charge it will go ...

| Virtual PC | 25 Jul 2005 09:39 GMT | 12 |
I'm still tossing the idea around about getting V-PC and am once again wondering. Does it run fast? I mean, at least as fast at the Mac OS I'm using? (OS-X 10.2.8) The only Windows OS I have is Win 98 so that is what I'll be using as I'm certainly not prepared to upgrade to

| Auto re-connect for dropped streaming video connection? | 22 Jul 2005 22:24 GMT | 2 |
I've got a decent DSL connection, but occasionally it drops and I have to re-connect to it. This is with Windows Media Player (OS X). Similar to wget command used in Terminal to fetch a file, I'd like some means to automatically re-connect to a video stream when it disconnects.

| Sending arbitrary TCP packets | 22 Jul 2005 21:21 GMT | 1 |
I'm trying to decode the protocol for an IP camera. I have ethereal installed and have seen what goes back and forth. I'ld like to try replaying some of the simpler messages that are used from a PC (with ActiveX) to display live video from the camera.

I have a new iMac G5, running 10.4.2. Safari 2.0 from time to time runs very slowly, and pages won't open "because the server is not responding." I get similar results with FireFox, but not with IE. I checked with Apple Tech Support, and they had me clear Safari's cache and reset, ...

I'm running 10.4.1 on an iMac G5. I migrated from an older version of Eudora to Mac Mail, using the Eudora Mailbox Cleaner application. I used only 1 filter in Eudora, and I have since deleted it. My Junk mail filter in Mail is not marking any junk, of which I get
