Lousy Airport reception with iMac G529 May 2005 23:06 GMT3
An iMac G5 won't connect to a Linksys WRT54G, even at half a meter away,
unless the iMac's option "Use Interference Robustness" (under the
Airport menu) is enabled. But with that opton on, and the Linksys at its
planned 10 meters distance, the reception gets bad - the Airport ...
Viewing messages in Mail.app29 May 2005 11:26 GMT5
I am trying to give Mail.app a try, although I probably won't switch from
Eudora, which I have been using since 1991. The first thing I noticed is that
there does not seem to be shortcuts for navigating between messages. Once I
have an email open, I don't know how to go to the ...

openvpn in Tiger25 May 2005 00:36 GMT5
I'm considering installing openvpn, but from what I gather from various
random web sites, this requires a third-party kernel extension for the
'tun' and/or 'tap' devices that isn't yet available for Tiger.  Is that
correct?

Mac G4 with Linksys WRT54G - How do I save my WEP settings on the Mac?24 May 2005 04:02 GMT2
Please be kind as I am new to this. I have a 11g PCI card in a Mac G4

set this up, but when I reboot the G4, it doesn't recall the settings

Why does Eudora still suck so badly?22 May 2005 22:54 GMT18
Years, decades it seems (can it really have been that long?) and _still_
Eudora is useless for reading mailing lists. Question - how many years
more will it be before a modern email client that threads email
properly, appears for MacOS (or _any_ GUI OS)?
Router and "bridge" for PC, Mac on Sprint DSL?22 May 2005 21:35 GMT7
A few days ago I asked on behalf of my parents for advice on a router to
connect to a DSL box ("SPRINT 645M - Plus - 2 ASDL Modem-Bridge.")
currently connected to a PC, so a forthcoming iMac could simultaneously
be connected to the net. The advice was basically that any old router

My iBook G4's Airport Extreme card is acting up -- or more precisely, I suspect
the antenna or the
wiring in the computer is broken. The unit is out of warranty.
Anyone know of any external WiFi adapters that will work with OS X 10.3.x? I'm

I have been using Hogwasher as my newsreader for several years and have been
extremely satisfied with it. This morning I launched Hogwasher and read a
number of postings and made a couple myself. I then closed Hogwasher for a
while and then relaunched it. On the relaunch things ...
