I had a problem today with Mail.app crashing randomly. Eventually, it started crashing upon launch every time. I managed to put a (temporary?) stop to the crashes by restarting the computer.

I am trying to tranfer files from one Laptop to another (running the same OS). I have a cross-over ethernet cable and have tried both TCP/IP and DHCP, but still can't seem to connect from either. I have booted into OSX and from Terminal can ping the other Laptop.
