wireless pbook can't see wired pmac on Netgear router23 Nov 2004 06:19 GMT9
I have a Netgear WGR614 v4 wireless broadband router with two
computers on its network: a wired powermac plugged into the back
of the router, and a wireless powerbook.
Both machines can share an internet connection (DSL), and the wired
Panther vs. XP networking22 Nov 2004 17:15 GMT1
I'm trying to network a PC and an imac (XP Home vs. Panther) using an
ethernet crossover cable.
So far, things work. I'm able to share a dialup connection, transfer
files and get a shared folder to mount on the mac desktop. The problem
IPv6, what's the use?22 Nov 2004 10:02 GMT1
I note that OS X 10.3.x has IPv6 support. For most of the users linked
on a home cable/ADSL and/or router, is there a use for it right now? Is
there a point to leave it activated (Automatic or Manual)? I also
understand that most home routers don't even support IPv6.
Mac Ram the same a PC22 Nov 2004 04:43 GMT2
Stupid question - is the ram for a PC and mac the same?  I recently
bought the new 20 inch iMac, and want to upgrade the ram from 256 to
512 (or more).  Where is an affordable place to buy ram for a mac.  It
currently has 256 DDR400 SDRAM - 1DIMM.
New NIC in PowerMac G3, MacOS 8.621 Nov 2004 22:40 GMT2
Hi,
My old G3 has an extremely slow 10MB NIC card builtin to the
motherboard.  I am simply trying to install a 10/100 NIC into it.  I
am using a SMC9432TX NIC from an old PC and have downloaded the MAC

I have a wired LAN to which I've added an Airport Base Station and an
Airport Express -- at different points on the wired LAN. The ABS and
AE cannot see each other very well, which is why I added the AE in the
first place. If the AE could see the ABS well, so could an Airport
Is AirPort Express a "real" base station?21 Nov 2004 16:41 GMT3
I'm getting tired of waiting for a cable modem/router to come out that
supports WPA natively (contrary to rumor, the Motorola SBG900 *does not
have WPA built in*, it can just talk to networks which do), so I think
I'm just going to get another AirPort Express and hitch it to my
Which VT220 emulation?21 Nov 2004 13:56 GMT3
I'm looking for an application that delivers a proper emulation of a
VT220 teminal. I'm trying to replace WRQ Reflection under Mac OS 9
because the Macs we use for this job are going to be upgraded to
Panther.

Please help.
My wife did a routine upgrade of the airport extreme software through
Apple, and the machine (iBookG4 with OSX 10.3) rebooted, then hung at

I have airport express and G4 Powerbook. My boyfriend has a G3 Imac
we want to share our Cable internet and wireless printer. My problem
seems to be: what is the best (and cheapest) way to make his computer
wireless. Can anyone help? :?

Wireless Card?16 Nov 2004 17:31 GMT5
I have acquired a boat on which we intend to spend a great deal of time
- cruising the Atlantic Coast.  So far, some marina operators have told
me that I could connect to the internet through their wireless
connection if I had a wireless card.
Slow ethernet file transfer16 Nov 2004 03:58 GMT1
The iBook clamshell just added to my home network is painfully slow
transferring files to/from two other Macs.  Transfer between the other
two Macs is normal speed for a Cat 5, 100T ethernet.  All 3 are
running OS 10.3.6, same config for TCP/IP with DHCP, File Sharing,
Modem doesn't connect after update16 Nov 2004 03:43 GMT2
After updating to 10.3.5, my snow iBook (dual USB) modem would no longer dial
my ISP.  The AOL program acted like it was dialing, but never did (I listened
on the phone).  The little telephone icon at the top of the screen would start
to indicate dialling, but would quickly revert ...
