NPR, RealPlayer, Windows Player a NO-GO! What to do?25 Aug 2004 01:53 GMT9
I've been unable to connect to NPR (National Public Radio) using the
latest Real Player(realaudio), v.8 I believe.
I figure OS X's RealMedia player might work, but that is impossible at
this time. We are stuck with 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 options on two different
External Dr. Bott connected, but AP Extreme BS reports "Antenna: Internal"24 Aug 2004 15:05 GMT4
I've connected a Dr. Bott ExtendAIR external antenna to my Airport
Extreme basestation, and powercycled it.
According to Dr. Bott's webpage[1], that should suffice.  However, after
doing this, I found no improvement in network range; and when I checked
help with connecting to linux nfs server24 Aug 2004 01:58 GMT4
I can connect to a linux nfs server via the command line, but cannot
connect via finder->go->connect to server
I entered the nfs://server/export into the dialog and get a response that
either either the system is incorect or the password.
Mail.app Question23 Aug 2004 17:38 GMT2
I usually use Entourage to read mail.  Recently, because of some
problems with Entourage 2004, I have been trying out Mail.app.  But,
there is one problem I can't seem to figure out.  I have two IMAP
accounts set up in Mail.app.  Under Preferences I have it set to check
Restricting access to airport23 Aug 2004 16:43 GMT4
I've looked at the "access control" tab on my Airport Admin and it
claims to only restrict access to the internet, not the airport
network.  I.E. people can still join.
Now I know I've used wifi networks where I could not join at all
Changing Airport Extreme card from U.S. to Worldwide locale23 Aug 2004 07:56 GMT1
When France changed its laws, Apple brought out Airport Update 3.2 which
changed French Airport kit to be able to use all radio channels 1 through
13.
I have recently purchased in the U.S. an American spec Airport Extreme card

Anyone using Goliath on MacOS 8.1?22 Aug 2004 19:15 GMT3
Is anyone running Goliath on MacOS 8.1 and successfully using File
Upload? For me at least the file selection dialog does not display any
local files, just the folders.
Encryption Over AirPort Extreme22 Aug 2004 15:01 GMT3
I have an Airport Extreme base station with wireless network at home. I am
learning that people can eavesdrop over one's home wireless network if it's
not encrypted. I am also learning that I may have to *tell* airport to
encrypt using WPA.
Using a Mac as CVS server, Linux and Mac clients22 Aug 2004 08:44 GMT4
I need a CVS repository for source control.  Builds are for both Linux
and Mac OS X (10.2), so my idea was to setup a repository on a Mac box,
then access it remotely from the Linux environment, but I'm having no luck.
I'm on a small lan - I've given each box a unique IP address.
A question about 802.11g22 Aug 2004 05:06 GMT3
I admit, I understand very little about 802.11g (mainly because my
computer, the original FP iMac, can't support it), but I have one
question:  802.11g speeds aren't tied to the modem, are they?  Meaning,
just about any cable modem can support 802.11g provided there is an
Question about WEP and passwords21 Aug 2004 16:00 GMT13
I found this page on Apple's support site.  It explains how different
manufacturers of wireless products use different 'hashing' methods to
create hex passwords (for WEP) and suggests using characters of a
certain length.  Here is the page:
Airport Express vs. WEP passwords21 Aug 2004 14:50 GMT4
I posted this once before, but my news server apparently 'ate' the post
(it never showed up) so I thought I'd post again:
When entering a WEP password into AirPort Express (either the Express
setup assistant, or the Airport Admin Utility), can I enter it
Cross-platform WEP19 Aug 2004 03:43 GMT9
We've deployed a couple AirPort Extreme WAPs and we're considering
adding some other (non-Apple) models.  Our usrs may use Macs, PCs, whatever.
Is there any way to define an ASCII WEP key that can be specified across all
platforms?  Right now, we use the (ASCII) password defined on ...
