| NFS slow on Linux or BSD-server | 31 Jul 2004 07:26 GMT | 1 |
I have this problem for a while now and I can't find a solution. If I connect OS-X with NFS to a Linux or FreeBSD server it's 5 times slower than connecting with Samba or AFP to the same server. If I connect with other than OS-X clients there is no problem, only

I work in a small office with a PC-based peer-to-peer network. A Mac running OS X is on this network. Everything works fine, but each time the Mac user copies a file to the network folder, a strange (to me) additional file is copied.

For some reason, I often get these extraneous alert sounds when iCab 2.9.8 is running. Not always, just sometimes. It stops when I quit iCab. (Quicksilver on 10.3.4) Any ideas on what might be causing it? iCab is my fav browser.
