Avoid sending Mail without Subject30 Jun 2004 22:42 GMT8
I hate it, but it happens once in a while that I klick 'Send' having
forgotten to give a 'Subject'.
Are there any scripts/options which would warn me before the message

Does anyone know if Thoth supports secure NTTP connections? If so, how

Odd font size30 Jun 2004 14:46 GMT3
Occasionally, when I am using MT-Newswatcher, I find a message that is
in a very small font size. I've looked in the preferences but there
doesn't seem to be a way to change the size of the messages to something
that I can read. How do I fix this problem  whenever it happens?
Acquisition vs Poisoned30 Jun 2004 14:33 GMT4
I hope that this newsgroup is the appropriate one to ask this question.
With the so many applications to download mp3s, I am rather confused
which is best. A friend suggested that I should  look at Acquisition and
Poisoned. Can people give me an evaluation of these two programs? ...

I can load my Scotiabank data to Quicken from IE Version 5.2.3 and
receive a file pcbanking.qfx with a Quicken icon, which opens correctly
in Quicken.
If I download the same data from Safari I get a file quicken.qfx but
OSXvnc and Panther29 Jun 2004 22:05 GMT4
Hi.  I have been told that a previous installation of OSXvnc and
Chicken of the VNC worked great on a G4 at work.  The OS at the time
on the G4 was 10.2.8.  The Powerbook that communicated with it had the
same OS.  I was unaware of this and wiped the G4 hard drive clean and
Airport Signal Strength Query29 Jun 2004 16:43 GMT1

cent.
How safe is unencrypted WiFi?28 Jun 2004 10:44 GMT28
The local public library is promoting their new free WiFi hotspot, but it's
not using WPA or even WEP.  Just select their SSID, and you're in.
Apparently their intention was make the network as simple as possible to
use, but the lack of encryption has me wary.  Isn't that ...

Tried iChat AV the first time today, and got audio to work in no time
after switching off the Mac's built-in firewall for ports iChat

But with the exception of one brief moment I could not get video to
Wierd Earthlink Error Message When Newsgroup Posting27 Jun 2004 20:53 GMT3
On occasion, but by no means all of the time, at the moment of attempting to
post a message to one or more of the Macintosh newsgroups I get a message
stating something to the effect that I cannot use Earthlink. What's wierd is
that I do not have an earthlink account. My ...
Linking OS 9 and OS X27 Jun 2004 18:56 GMT2
Can anyone tell me where I can obtain information on how to link a
PowerPC running under OS 9 with a laptop Powerbook G4 running under OS
X10.3.3? I can see an ethernet socket on the old machine as well as on
the laptop, so I'm hoping it can be done even though the machines are
Modems are crap26 Jun 2004 21:43 GMT20
Being used to DSL at home, I am reminded again as I travel how pathetic
modems are.
I don't mean bandwidth, although compared to my 1.5 Mb line at home a
piddling 56K is real hard to adjust to. I mean the way they throw in the

Computer won't dial24 Jun 2004 14:03 GMT1

How to remove FAXstf24 Jun 2004 13:03 GMT3
I had an old version of the freebie FAXstf X which I have recently upgraded
to the latest freebie version.
Thing is, I think I might be better off with Panther's built-in FAXing
capability.  The trouble is that I *think* that FAXstf installer actually
