I'm trying to set up a D-Link DI-524 wireless router for filesharing...
so far, without success.
I have two pre-Mac OS X computers hard-wired into the ethernet D-Link
hub. When I hard-wire the PB run Mac OS 10.2.8 to the D-Link... all is
Safari can't handle https30 May 2004 01:29 GMT37
My copy of Safari can't open any https. It is version 1.2.1, which I
think is the most recent one. Following a tip on a previous post, I
ran a command line that created a Debug menu on Safari. At the bottom
of it, there's an option that lists supported protocols, but https is

PostFix newbie question...28 May 2004 16:27 GMT3
I've set up PostFix and a mailserver on a dynamic IP'ed 10.3.3 machine
(using a dyndns.org account) and can successfully send and receive
email. So far so good. I used PostFix enabler and configured it to use
the "OS X built-in user accounts."

mystery of the vanishing internet26 May 2004 02:29 GMT8
I see the internet via sbcglobal DSL using a SpeedStream DSL modem and a
Netgear router which is doing PPPoE (so that my computers just use
DHCP). Every so often (once a week?) the internet completely vanishes
(e.g. if I try to go to a web site in a browser, Safari just "hangs"),

Free FTP space somewhere?25 May 2004 16:57 GMT15
Looking for FTP space to put a few files up for friends.
My ISP has changed its servers and now only allows HTTP pages to be served
up. I know I can build a web page with links to the files, but I'd rather
just have some place to FTP them and provide friends with a URL.
Virtual PC installation error25 May 2004 13:00 GMT1
Virtual PC 6 won't install on my 500 MhZ 256MB Ibook. At the end of
the installation process it says 'An unknown error has occurred -3'.
There's 6.5 GB free on the hard disk, which is more than the
installation program reports it needs (2 GB). There was a previous
MT-NW not suppressing duplicates24 May 2004 15:22 GMT18
It's happening again: MT-NW 3.4 is showing me the same messages in
misc.int-property and gnu.misc.discuss, even though I have the option
enabled to "Don't show articles that have been read in another group".
Whenever this fails, it always seems to be these two groups.  Here's ...
Q: Airport Base Station causing interference with FM radio23 May 2004 19:24 GMT1
My Airport Extreme Base Station is causing interference when listening
to FM radio. I confirmed it was the Airport by powering it down. It's
annoying because I often tape off the radio and to get a clear recording
I now need to shut off my network!! Not too convenient :(
Mail and IMAP rules22 May 2004 20:51 GMT6
It seems that I can't use a rule in Mail to direct an incoming message
to an IMAP folder. Is this true, or have I done something wrong?

Replacement for Thoth?22 May 2004 20:28 GMT9
Can anyone recommend a good replacement for Thoth with emphasis on
uploading binaries?  I'm accustomed to uploading using yEnc and haven't
come across any other Mac newsreader that allows this.
Is Gameranger a trojan ????22 May 2004 00:17 GMT3
My son has started using Gameranger, however when checking my ADSL
useage I find that there is a hell of a lot of data being uploaded from
my machine, 43Mb of it, before game ranger it has been in the 1Mb or
less range.
Bookmark "cleaning" utility?21 May 2004 03:42 GMT2
Hello all...
I have some older bookmark files that are quite large and filled with numerous
URLs that I know to be no longer functional. The problem is, I don't know
_which ones_ are non-functional, and don't want to go through the drudgery of
