Mixed Airport/Airport Extreme network30 Apr 2004 18:48 GMT2
What happens when an Aiport-equipped computer joins an Airport Extreme
network? Apple's AP Extreme FAQ says:
> AirPort Extreme users will experience speeds less than 54 Mbps when they are
> sharing the network with 802.11b users.
Going Nuts with Pop Ads30 Apr 2004 03:15 GMT12
Just downloaded IE and every time I go to google, I getting hit
with the ads.  IE is also very slow--and I can't see where to
increase memory.  I trashed it and downloaded a fresh install.
The ads were back.  I never had this problem on 9.1 or
Moving Between Network Connections30 Apr 2004 02:45 GMT7
   Got a complaint/question here.  I've got a 1GHz AlBook (10.3.3) with
the Airport Extreme and Gigabit ethernet.  I use both at home.  Mostly
the Airport, but when transferring large files I plug into my 10/100
switch with my other comps.
Setting up a zone in Macos 10.327 Apr 2004 15:26 GMT2
After setting up a first zone and restarting named, the installed domain
doesn't answer to ping requests.
Macos 10.3 runs BIND 9.2.2
What's wrong in these files ?
Mac OS X virus27 Apr 2004 05:48 GMT268
This is from the BugTraqMac list:
As a harbinger of things to come, there now exists a Trojan on OS X; it
exploits the ID3 tag in MP3 files to embed executable code in those
files.
Remote Desktop27 Apr 2004 01:35 GMT2
We have recently bought an Apple Power Mac G5 for a running project.
I would want to know if it exists any method to connect to the remote
desktop of G5 using several OSs like GNU/Linux or Windows.
We know about Apple Remote Desktop, but this application only works to
Strange window behaviour.24 Apr 2004 00:04 GMT2
I've been seeing a very weird 'bug' for a few releases now, and thought
this might help anyone else having a similar issue with Mozilla.
Indeed I have seen this problem as long as I can remember in OSX.
Open a window and browse to a download (such as Version Tracker), then
2 Isolated Ether networks sharing DSL?23 Apr 2004 21:50 GMT10
A network in a small office currently has a SpeedStream DSL modem connected
through a NetGear FVS318 VPN/Firewall router <http://tinyurl.com/2sjz9> to
the computers.
I want to create a second network, in parallel with this network, so that
Can Thoth 1.7.2 upload several streams simultaneously?23 Apr 2004 15:47 GMT1
When I switched from YANW 4.2.6 to YANW 5.0.1 several years back, it
soon became common knowledge that, if you uploaded binaries using more
than ONE stream, they would be corrupt. Has Thoth 1.7.2 corrected this
problem?
attaching *email* in OSX mail app23 Apr 2004 12:10 GMT14
I'm new to OSX so maybe I'm missing something very obvious. I'm unable
to attach actual emails to an outgoing message. We use SpamAssassin on
our local mail network. To add spam addys to the database requires
ATTACHING the offending emails to an email message directed to our mail ...

RealPlayer woes23 Apr 2004 04:27 GMT2
The other day, I was listening to Froots Radio's stream of its hourlong
April show (located at http://www.frootsmag.com/radio/ ).  WHile it was
playing (I was about halfway through), I accidentally clicked on
another RealAudio stream link, which stopped the Froots stream and
Saving QT web movies22 Apr 2004 15:28 GMT2
I'm on a very slow dialup (17 Kbd...Ah, life in the country) and need to
view a number of QT instructional movies on a web site.  They take an
age to download.  Is there in any way I can save them to the hard drive
for viewing at my convenience?  I'm using Safari but have IE, as ...
Spammers Using My Domain22 Apr 2004 03:27 GMT17
I don't know if there's anything to be done about this, but spammers are
using <random-characters> at jkonton.best.vwh.net to send spam, and I'm
getting the bounces.  I've talked to my ISP, but there's nothing they
can do because the spam is not being sent thru their email ...
Current AirPort BS firmware?19 Apr 2004 23:25 GMT1
What is the current level of firmware for AirPort Graphite and Snow
(non-Extreme) base stations? The support web site says the updater is version
3.3.1 but this isn't the firmware version within the updater. My base station
shows firmware level v3.84.
