Airport in new house, weak signal31 Dec 2003 18:02 GMT5
Well, we finally got moved!  Airport signal strength  was just fine our
old house, old house was a two story, and as such compact which meant
one was never more than 20 or 30 feet from the Basestation.
BTW: We have a "snow" 802.11b Basestation, 2 iMac FP's running built-in
PC to MAC networking - Newbie question.31 Dec 2003 12:38 GMT2
Mac to PC simple network with router. On the Mac I
have no problem seeing PC(win98) shared folders using Panther OS, or
reading and writing files from the Mac to the PC.
On PC, I can see the Mac G4, but I cannot log in. It asks for a

Does Samba work with Panther?30 Dec 2003 06:10 GMT3
Since installing Panther I have not been able to mount any share point
on a WindowsXP Pro box which I had no problem mounting with Jaguar.
The WindowsXP box has no problem mounting the home directory of
Panther but not vice versa. It does put up the dialog asking for
Wireless speed vs. 10baseT29 Dec 2003 14:28 GMT7
What are the relative speeds possible (typical) with these two mediums? I'm
going to decide with either Airport or Ethernet 10/100baseT.
I'm connecting to DSL service (typical speed, 300Kbps download, I think).
Which will be faster?

Merry Christmas, everybody!
I'm wondering how to execute "postfix flush" (as root) automatically

Thanks!

I have a Qualcomm cell phone that connects to my PC using a serial
port and then I can connect to the internet.  It works like a champ on
the PC.  But I don't want to use the PC anymore, I just bought a new
mac.
Why is homedir secured from APF?28 Dec 2003 01:20 GMT2
When I connect my two Macs (both OSX) via Apple filesharing, I can't
access my home directory on the server machine, even though I can access
other folders on the same disk volume.  I can't even see the mechanism
by which this is being done, since the Unix permissions don't seem ...

Laptop loses Airport connection and has to be rebooted; any ideas?26 Dec 2003 02:56 GMT5
I have a 17" powerbook running Panther, and a home WiFi network with a
Linksys wireless router. Sometimes everything is fine for days; lately, it's
been losing its airport connection (can't see the router, not just the
outside network) - about once a day, the airport icon at the top ...
Security certificate problem with IE 5.1.625 Dec 2003 23:49 GMT4
Hi. I'm trying to assist with moving our Mac user group's Internet
domain, web pages, and mailing lists to a new hoster, but I'm having
trouble accessing the hoster's web site with IE 5.1.6 under System 9.1
because of some glitch with security certificates.

Classic support for Airport?23 Dec 2003 05:32 GMT2
I occasionally boot into OS9 and I was wondering if there's some way to
get the Airport card to work.  I used to use IPNetRouter, does anyone
know if that can be used?  I think it's a matter of getting the TCP/IP
subsystem of OS9 to recognize the Aiport card as a network ...
Is my Aiport (Graphite) Basetsation dead ?23 Dec 2003 03:01 GMT3
Hey All,
My trusty graphite Airport Basestation has started to play up the past
few weeks. The unit will dial into my ISP (via modem) as per normal.
It will work fine for 20-30 minutes and then will drop the connection.
