What's happened to Apple's pricing competitivness?29 Oct 2007 19:44 GMT33
Up until fairly recently, Apple's iMacs were fairly competitive price
wise with a similarly spec'd Dell PC. This no longer seems to be the
case!
Currently for $1200 you can get a Dell Insiron 530s Desktop

I would like to buy a new Mac, is there places that has interest free with
GE that you can pay off monthly? Like where you would be an item from Harvey
Norman?
Cheers

Looking forward to get Leopard, but I  am  a little bit confused on an
issue
I have a G5 DP1.8 Powermac/1.5 GB ram  and it had Panther on it, and I
upgraded to Tiger on that.

Problem with Apple USB modem25 Oct 2007 23:20 GMT2
Love my new 20" iMac, and generally it works well.  One hassle tho is
that after letting/putting it to sleep when I attempt to connect by dial
up to the net it doesn't work.

mac price ripoff in Australia23 Oct 2007 15:47 GMT11
Has anyone else noticed how much Apple Australia is putting on Mac prices?
After allowing for currency exchange, Aussie retail prices are 30% above
US retail prices - approximately one third more!
(By comparison, pre-order prices for Leopard are the same numerically,
MDD 'Wind tunnel' PS Fans - Recommended replacements?22 Oct 2007 22:11 GMT20
Just wondering if anyone here has ever played with replacing the noisy
power supply fans in a MDD G4 PowerMac?  I've finally had enough of the
noise - even my housemate's PC over in the other corner of the room
doesn't even make HALF as much racket as this thing.
Rotating rotated digital camera pics20 Oct 2007 08:29 GMT1
I have a Canon digital camera that recognises when the camera is in landscape
or portrait mode, and includes in the picture file with the right orientation.
Most applications seem to recognise this.
However, the camera sometimes gets it wrong, and flags a picture as portrait
Dmg files....16 Oct 2007 15:04 GMT3
I have a program that "converts" files to .dmg format
Great, I thought, but checking the size of the 2 files (non-.dmg, the the
converted .dmg file) , the .dmg file size is a bigger.
I thought it would be smaller?
Glossy display on Aluminium iMac15 Oct 2007 07:11 GMT1
Has anyone had a chance to try the new aluminium iMac with the glass
display cover in bright sunlit rooms? I wanted a replacement for my iMac
G5, however when I finally got a look at the new iMac, I could not
believe it would be viable because of the level of reflections seen on
iPhoto10 Oct 2007 00:07 GMT1
I upgraded my iPhoto to the new 08 version (iPhoto 7.1).
Whenever I try to open the Preferences, the app freezes - I get the
spinning beach ball of death and have to force quit - a few times I've
let it run and it eventually snaps back - but it takes at least 3
video conferencing and download usage04 Oct 2007 20:38 GMT2
Question. I have a broadband connection and a 2 GB download/upload
limit per month. I would like to video conference with a friend in
England using the built in camera and iChat etc.  Excuse my ignorance
but will this eat into my download/upload usage in a big way, a small
Too technical for me...04 Oct 2007 12:13 GMT2
I'm asking this for a friend. I don't even know how to phrase it simply...
To find the size of a file, one uses Get Info. Fine. A window
comes up with all the details, including file size.
If one selects three files and does the same, three info windows come up.
Mac Mini Repair in Sydney?02 Oct 2007 13:03 GMT1
we have a Mac Mini G4 that has the disk dying in it.
I wanted to to get someone to replace it for me, perhaps with
a slightly bigger/faster one.
I know I could do it myself, but I sliced the top of my finger
