can I isolate the dump to an active window only, if say i have 2 or 3

am currently searching for a method to view video files on a tv.
has anyone connected a mac mini to a tv?. would like to hear some
feedback on it.

After I have moved pics from my digital camera onto my eMac, I sometimes
manipulate an image in photoshop.
When I e-mail that image to friends, some of them can open it and some
can't.

I have a PM 8600/250 Mach5 which I have upgraded with:
  - a zif carrier card and a G3/333 (it can take any G3/4 zif card up
to 500MHz)
  - 832MB of RAM

I am about to have a friend use my mac. How do I lock certain folders
so that                  he can't open them ?
I have tried locking a folder in Get info but that does not work.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I have been given some copies of maps in .ecw file format.  Does anybody
know how I can open these?
