Hidden Macs on TV18 Mar 2006 15:59 GMT8
I've noticed a couple of shows on TV that use Macs but Apple has
obviously not coughed up for product placement.
Numbers - seems to always have a pot of pencils in front of the
Powerbook Apple logo.
Web browser confusion.....18 Mar 2006 04:44 GMT2
ok,  I am using Firefox atm prob only because Safari seems to have a few
"bugs, or holes " in it (what I have read so far)
I am just curious to find out if since all this safari biz began, are people
still using it or Firefox?
I got done at an auction!17 Mar 2006 14:56 GMT2
I paid AU$9.50 for a Powermac described as having a 336 Mhz processor,
256 MB ram, 3.5 gig hard disk and USB. I wanted something better than my
G3 which has a 266 Mhz processor and 224 MB ram. Now I have picked it
up I find it works well but only has a 120 Mhz processor and 140 MB ...
Need Help Fixing a Bitmap Font16 Mar 2006 23:01 GMT1
I'm very much wanting to use a specific font, Shaston, the default
system font of the Apple IIgs for a book I'm writing and designing
dedicated to that same computer system.
A freeware font of shaston is available here:
Subscribing to podcasts not in ITMS: How?15 Mar 2006 00:02 GMT1
I can't find how to use iTunes to subscribe to podcasts that aren't
listed in the iTunes Music Store. The iTunes help file says this can be
done, but doesn't say how. After poking around the menus for a while, I
can't see how to do it. Does anyone know?
Intel Mac mini14 Mar 2006 06:25 GMT37
I have convinced a number of friends to switch to macs and some have not and
its interesting to see why folks do or do not switch. Cost is a factor.
Having thought about this for a couple of days it really appears that Apple
are missing the mark with the mini, IMHO.    That is, if ...
optusnet and broadband13 Mar 2006 21:31 GMT15
I¹m with optusnet and use dialup. I¹d like to switch to broadband but
optusnet have told me they don¹t support Macintosh.
Any optusnet customers gone ahead and done it anyway? Any problems using
the modem they supply etc?
Watching DVD's on a Lombard in OS-X11 Mar 2006 10:32 GMT5
As I understand it, the Lombard's DVD drive is not supported by OS-X for playing DVD movies,
and so you have to use a 3rd party program such as "VLC" to watch movies.
I think that the reason being is that the Lombard has a hardware mpeg decoder chip on the motherboard
which isn't ...
iLife 06 DVD over 6GB?10 Mar 2006 21:06 GMT4
I got an iMac recently which came with an iLife 06 DVD. I put it in an
older Mac with a Pioneer 106 drive which showed it to be 6.2GB. I
thought it must have been a dual-layer disk, but I think the drive only
reads single-layer media. The drive was able to read the whole DVD, so

Anyone know if a version of OpenOffice for the Mac is ever going to
eventuate? (i.e. one that does _not_ require an x-server running on top
of MacOSX?)
Cheers,
